Perhaps we dodged a bullet when Kiffin left...

I will say it was refreshing to see a coach take 100 per of the blame

Yeah...that would be nice to see from the HC at UT.

But I still feel that what goes around comes around with this guy and after next year's schedule, without Barkley, scholarship restrictions, etc.... Pat Haden might begin a head coach search mid-season.

I can only imagine where Tennessee football would be under Kiffin and Monte today given that USC's talent pool is generally beyond that of Tennessee's.

Though we have not gotten the wins, at least UT is not embarrassed weekly by the barely legal antics of its coach.

We dodged a big bullet in several ways.
First of all, we dodged the NCAA violations bullet, had Kiffin remained here.
Secondly, we dodged the Brian Kelly bullet. Imagine if Kelly had been hired, then by seasons end, he leaves U.T. to go to his dream job at Notre Dame.
Thirdly, imagine if Fulmer had stayed here and Taj Boyd was our q.b. now. Or perhaps the kid who played at Ole Miss last season was our current q.b.... I can just imagine how poorly the team would perform if Bray were not the q.b.... Our offense is one of our bright spots on the team, with Bray...

I will admit that I bought into the Kiffin hire. I also will proudly state that I never bought into Hamilton. I was right about Hamilton; wrong about Kiffin.

The game of football is cyclic. LK is faced with what just about all HC face these days. Talent in the sport is more widely distributed than it ever has been before. To the point that even programs that were so bad you had to ask why they even had a football program. MTSU for example has periodically made some noise including this season. UF had a stiff test from what should have been a pattycake team. And so on. Just like in the SEC, teams elsewhere can win or lose on any given Saturday. You could beat an Oregon and get your rear end twice fried, baked, and handed to you on a paper plate the next week.

I'm no LK fan but admit it, you post this here to gloat over the guy's misfortune, nothing more.

Sure, I think he's a nitwit to retain his dad as DC, cause his time is long past. Sure LK himself may act like he's constipated and must poop out of the north end of his body. But all that means is he's no different than other "characters' that populate the HC profession. To wit: ND's coach, OSU's coach, UGa.'s coach, Uf's coach and the list goes on.

So forget LK, he's gone, never coming back here again. And we have a team we are or should be concerned about. The only time we should even think of Lk is if and when we play his team. This is after all the Volnation forum, not the Lane KiffinNation forum. That includes hunting, yep, hunting for every opportunity to gloat when he he has a negative experience. That's the behavior of a jilted lover and we're supposed to be better than that.

Kiffin is an immature brat. He has no clue as to how to be professional or how to let his coaching skills grow with time. He cheats, lies and scars the integrity of the game.

I never liked him while he was here. He embarrassed us in so many ways. The night he bailed on us was irony at its best.

There is no telling what he and his shady staff has done behind the curtains at USC.

So? Cry us a river.

We don't want him back. He would have destroyed this program even further had he stayed.

He ruined the program. I hope he gets fired tomorrow.

But your 'concern' is duly noted.

:eek:lol:

I knew it was only a matter of time until the old Lane showed up

Perhaps? Unfortunately we would have loved every victory, right up to the time we got sent to the NCAA dungeon forever.

Am I the only one that enjoys these threads for all of the LK fans that still can't admit they were wrong more than the gloating over LK's "misfortunes." (I put it in quotes, because they're all self-inflicted wounds).

The coach that brought us "moral victories" and about 25% of a recruiting class.

Kiffin is easy to dislike, but the only game he was ever truly outcoached was against VT. Our current HC gets outcoached on a weekly basis.

Is this supposed to make sense?

I have said it plenty of times...... Kiffin took a UT team that should have won 10 games and went 7-6. That 09 team was stacked. Dude just isn't a great coach.
