Perhaps we dodged a bullet when Kiffin left...

We dodged a big bullet in several ways.
First of all, we dodged the NCAA violations bullet, had Kiffin remained here.
Secondly, we dodged the Brian Kelly bullet. Imagine if Kelly had been hired, then by seasons end, he leaves U.T. to go to his dream job at Notre Dame.
Thirdly, imagine if Fulmer had stayed here and Taj Boyd was our q.b. now. Or perhaps the kid who played at Ole Miss last season was our current q.b.... I can just imagine how poorly the team would perform if Bray were not the q.b.... Our offense is one of our bright spots on the team, with Bray...

how soon we forget that Bray was a Kiffn recruit, retaned by Dooley

Kiffin is an immature brat. He has no clue as to how to be professional or how to let his coaching skills grow with time. He cheats, lies and scars the integrity of the game.

I never liked him while he was here. He embarrassed us in so many ways. The night he bailed on us was irony at its best.

There is no telling what he and his shady staff has done behind the curtains at USC.

With his questionable ethics and shady past, he belongs in a US Senate office or the White House, not in the game of football.

Kiffin would have brought a ton of talent in here. He showed in one year that he could go toe to toe with Saban and Meyer for recruits.

Would we have gotten in NCAA trouble? Maybe. Oregon was caught paying for recruits and the NCAA did nothing. So, who knows? I think it's better to push the envelope on that stuff as much as possible and just avoid any major rules violations, which is what Kiffin was doing.

Kiffin is a decent coach too. And he was smart enough to surround himself with top assistants. He was more competitive with Urban Meyer and Nick Saban than Dooley has ever been. With the talent he would have brought in and the assistants to coach them up, I think he would have made for some interesting games against our rivals.

Would he have won a championship? I don't think so, because he's not the elite level coach that he thinks he is. But at least we would have been in the hunt.

I don't think you can say that we dodged any kind of bullet when we are currently the laughing stock of the SEC.

exactly! he would have beat alabama his first/only year here and now we have people that justify it taking 4 years just to be competitive...i think most of the kiffin hate was more anger that we lost him than anger that he wasnt a good coach. i guarantee our d would look a hundred times better, it did when monty was coaching it. im too lazy to look but im pretty sure kiffin won more sec games in that one year than dooley has since hes been here.

How so? He has 3 losses with one of the most talented rosters in the game this year.

That's true. I'm not disputing that Lane is better with x's and o's than Dooley - he is by a long shot. But he would have us in a world of hurt ethically - the little punk has no soul, and I am looking foward to watching him get fired and groveling for the UC Davis job.

USC is the most talented, athletic team in college football. Offensively they are fine but not as good as they should be. Defensively, they have a 200-year old coordinator in Big Daddy Monte and a retarded Cajun turtle eater (Ed Ogremoron) coaching their line. That's a recipe for disaster. Remember how our D crumbled at the end of the year when these two jokers were on our sidelines?

Our D would be better (my God, you're comparing it to Fat Sal's D), but it would still suck. Guess you forgot about the Ole Miss and Va. Tech games. Lame Sr. and Ogremoron suck - check out that mighty Trojan D if you don't believe me.

Dodged a bullet? Kiffin won more SEC games in his first year here than Dooley did in 3.

Untrue.

Kiffin was 4-4 in the SEC. Dooley was 3-5 his first year,1-7 last year, so it's currently tied. After today, Dooley will have 5 wins.

So ur wrong. Doesn't make me feel better though.

Good points, but by leaving many of his players departed (Bryce and Okutsu, to name just two) and made the talent situation even worse. Had Dooley been able to take over when Fulmer left, he no doubt does a better job, or if somehow the player attrition had been limited.

It's true that even though I am not that impressed with Kiffin's first year, the run he put together by thumping uga and usc and almost beating bammer in between was impressive. It was actually down hill from there though, and I don't think we should have lost to Auburn or UCLA.

No, I put Auburn in that category, but we aren't far behind, unfortunately.

Let's win out, go to a bowl, go 8-5, get in a good DC or even a new HC and look forward to next season.

If Bray and one of the star WRs come back, with even half a D we can compete next year for the East. IMO.

I have said it plenty of times...... Kiffin took a UT team that should have won 10 games and went 7-6. That 09 team was stacked. Dude just isn't a great coach.

The team that had two undersized walk-ons starting on the offensive line was stacked?

I'm certainly no Kiffin fan, but to say that 09 team was stacked is ridiculous.
