Perspective: Where Tennessee is as a program under Josh Heupel, Year 3

Year 3 assessment: If we lose to UGA, we're right back to 3 losses per year minimum to UF, UGA, and Bama. I like Heupel. I want him to succeed wildly. But this is big boy SEC football and you are what and who your numbers say you are.
Yes, and the roster says we're NOT full of 4/5 star players like Bama/UGA. Also, what other team had as many players as we had leave the program before Heupel took over? Hmmm, basically starting over from scratch. Last year was unbelievable for sure. When we get our roster full of those type players then come back & complain.

While I agree with the sentiment, do you think it's fair to judge him given the situation/circumstances he walked into? It's almost certain that he'll lose to UGA to complete the trifecta, but is that an accurate metric to use at this point in the rebuild?
No, it's not fair.

no hope for a championship now. Start nico !!
I don't start him, but I do start giving him a series or two here and there. Ideally, we might run away with a game or two the rest of the way and he gets a lot more than a series, but we wet the bed in those type of games early in the season. This team just doesn't have that killer instinct. Maybe UConn?

Selfishly I want the Georgia game bad, possibly more than that Bama game the other day lol. I know it's unlikely we win but I do think we'll give them a game this year given Bowers will likely be out and we get them at home. I live just outside of Atlanta and the barking and chirping is unbearable. I long for the days when they hated us around here. A win against them would be sweet!

And all that being said, it's been a long time since we were competitive with Georgia and Bama. Credit the coaching staff for a remarkable turnaround in a short time.

Agree, so why not start playing Nico now…?
I don’t disagree to be honest. I do think there’s something to be said about running a program with loyalty and some of the players knowing seniority matters. I think Heup is similar to Stoops with his OKGs.
