Peterman Starting QB discussion

[/B]

I think that is reasonable going forward. I thought Butch had through the SAlabama game to find a QB. It isn't Butch's fault that Florida was a real winnable game this year......

No matter who the starter is, my only critique of the coaching staff is that they aren't doing enough to establish an offensive identity. Their best coaching half to date was the second half of the WKY game. I think that is a reasonable blueprint moving forward.

Of course, our QB situation is so bad, it makes it nearly impossible to tell exactly what the OC is trying to do.

Do you coach to your personel or keep preaching system to players who eventually wont even be around to see it through?

From a win loss standpoint I dont think it matters who starts or plays. I dont think we win this game if Worley starts. Peterman is pretty much done and the way I understand it there wasnt much seperation between him and Ferg. So moving forward Id say Worley is the lamb until Butch decides to look to the future. Og course and injury could force his hand.

From what i understand, most who have seen all four believe Ferguson is the future. After today, if I'm Butch, I start Worley and consider giving him second string reps and mop up duty.

This would be my plan too.

I wouldn't hire Rich Rod and expect him to run a pro set. My problem isn't the system, it is the play calling within the system. That....and I don't think we have the personnel to run a pro set either...or the wing T....or the wishbone...or the flexbone...or the chicken bone.

Fair points Lex. And our receivers need to continue to get better.

Peterman was scared to death on his first run. It showed then and it showed the rest of the game.

I think the experience fuzzed him out. Worley looked scared as heck when he went in against SCar his freshman year. But he leveled out quite a bit last year. The first play when Peterman snapped the ball with the Gator completely unopposed on his right made me think that he wasn't in the game. Talk about blind, he had to be. That toss up into the end zone was not excusable. He should have been pulled before the game got too far away. We could have won that game, should have won that game imo.

We can all agree that we need to shelf the read option, which they did in the second half.

And you would be correct.

I agree Lex. We don't have ideal personnel for this system, but I don't see the point in running one system this year then switching gears in a year or two. If Butch is going to live or die with his offense, he might as well go all in now.

Not so fast...best o line in the country.

If he is all in then nobody but Ferguson or Dobbs gets a snap from this point forward. Worley can't run the read option effectively.

I think he needs a bowl game or bowl eligibility to keep recruiting momentum.

I'm anxious to watch the replay. I didn't always have the best view from the end zone. I don't mind the zone read in theory, but we certainly haven't run it effectively to this point.

Im still confused as to what we are actually trying to do.

Second thought...again...I loved the game plan for the second half of the WKY game. It was run first, and then using the short and intermediate passing game to set up some down field opportunities.

On TV it looked like we tried to stretch the field way too early today.

I don't know that Worley "can't" run it but that's another debate.

If I'm Butch I'm not worried about redshirts. My main priority is getting this team to a bowl.
