Great! This will go one of two ways.
1. He will play exceptionally well and win the game outright or keep it close.
2. He will get his ass handed to him in the swamp, loose any confidence that he may have had and flush his career down the toilet.
I have a bad feeling that it is going to be number 2. I just don't think the swamp is the place you want to start playing around with the QB position.
Let me make this clear. I do hope I am wrong in every sense of the way.
I see it working out like this: Peterman gets the start, throws at least one pick very early on, then has his ass handed to him and Worley coming in to finish out the game.
Gators 38 Vols 14
Point was would a frosh have done worse than Peterman.
He was hot garbage but we also have a fan base that is short sighted.
From a win loss standpoint I dont think it matters who starts or plays. I dont think we win this game if Worley starts. Peterman is pretty much done and the way I understand it there wasnt much seperation between him and Ferg. So moving forward Id say Worley is the lamb until Butch decides to look to the future. Og course and injury could force his hand.I thought you were implying we should start a true freshman moving forward, or the poster you agreed with was. I think starting any freshman for the first time on the road against Florida is a bad idea. I would have probably brought Peterman in off the bench early, without going all in by naming him the starter. But at this point it's easy to play coach in hindsight.
If Butch thinks one of the true freshman gives us the best chance to win in November then, by all means, get him some live snaps. But I wouldn't name one the starter just because anyone has to be better than Worley. Because clearly, that's not the case. At the same time, I'm not kicking and screening if our two true freshman aren't ready to go by game four on the road.

I think that is reasonable going forward. I thought Butch had through the SAlabama game to find a QB. It isn't Butch's fault that Florida was a real winnable game this year......
No matter who the starter is, my only critique of the coaching staff is that they aren't doing enough to establish an offensive identity. Their best coaching half to date was the second half of the WKY game. I think that is a reasonable blueprint moving forward.
Of course, our QB situation is so bad, it makes it nearly impossible to tell exactly what the OC is trying to do.
