Peterman's first half performance

He didn't look this bad when he played second string on previous games which is why I posed the question.
No question he was affected by the first start in his home state in the first sec game of the year. He knew he was on the big stage in primetime. He didn't pick up on the lineman who shifted to the unblocked end. Should have checked off or kept the ball himself. After that, it was probably a general meltdown when he couldn't get the last bad play out of his mind and so on. Just a disaster and you could read it on his face on the sidelines. He was shattered.

Truthfully, I'm still complaining that we started Peterman in the first place. Oh well.......

Exactly my point. That IS our second string QB and that deer in the headlights, what the HE%$ just happened? look was not, shall we say, inspiring.

In my opinion the new term "Petermanned" is a verb that will be used with regularity when absurdly bad things happen in Tennessee football (so, like, pretty often)

Example: "Did Raijon Neal just lose another fumble on the first offensive series of the game?"

"Yep, he Petermanned it right onto the turf."

...and in tatters

Out of the question to expect him to play very well in his first start... Maybe. Expecting him to have more passing yards than possessions is not asking to much I don't think.

In the Swamp, even that is debatable as much as that hurts to admit.

Obviously he wasn't ready for this, so whatever Jones saw in practice this week didn't even get on the plane to Gainesville.

I do feel bad for him because he'll likely not ever play again unless Worley gets hurt and there's no other option, and that's a heck of a lasting impression to make (in a bad way).

We will have to train Peterman to man the clipboard, we can't just send him back to high school at this point.

When your trying to throw from inside your 15 yard line and God's gift too Left Tackles gets BULL rushed INTO the QB's hip. On s 5 step drop and then strips the ball, we got bigger problems than who is the QB..".. Body like Tarzan, mostly plays like Jane "

Worst offensive performance I've seen in my 26 years of life in that first half.

Same here. Not even close. It was so bad it was almost like a bad dream. I know his parents were there, and I feel bad for the guy that that happened while his parents were watching. I'm not embarassed for them, just wish the end result was a lot better looking. Both as a fan, and as someone with a heart.

Thanks for the feedback!

It reminded me somewhat of when Worley was thrown in to cover Bray for the first time.... only a bit different.

Guess we'll see how he handles it in the next few weeks. If we can get some spread on South Alabama we'll probably see him play some second half ball.

This is exactly why a big-time team starting a redshirt freshman gets so much attention in the press; there is potential for an explosion of greatness (Manning - cannot remember if he was a redshirt, though) or complete implosion (Peterman). We tend to forget that these kids are right out of high-school, barely comparable physically or mentally to their junior and senior peers. What I wonder about is whether or not this experience destroyed him to the point that he can no longer be counted upon in the rotation, not that he showed much to count on anyway. After Worley and Peterman, there was a third option that was not selected because the coaches thought he was just not good enough. Now THAT is scary.

There are 2 ways he can react to this.

Watch the film, realize what he did wrong and work his butt off to make people forget it.

Watch the film and then have to go to see a psych analyst for post traumatic stress disorder.

the oline is getting it's recognition now...they are below average for seniors. Cant wait to get a new group in. Not there fault just victims of the coaching changes. This program needs this bunch of coaches around for 5+ years just to make the players feel like they have a family. CBJ will get it done.

He got up early in the morning and worked harder than anyone to get a chance.. Bruin said in another forum that he just wanted to cry for him. I agree. From what Juwuan James said, he obviously took it hard.

@JawuanJames70: Y'all be easy on my QB. Not to many of you guys have had to start as a freshman in the SEC. Well be ok #VFL

Tired of being negative towards this team and players....however Nathan does not look like a starter now or ever in the SEC

In fairness the o-line was recruited for Chaney's 50 pass offense.
Had Bray and Hunter stayed we'd be lighting it up this season.
