Petrino back to Louisville

How much did they get from Strong's buyout? Any idea?

Nope. I just know Western structured his contract that if he left within his first two years they actually make money off the whole deal. His salary is $800k with a buyout of $2mil. I'd love him to stay but, I'll take two years at $1.6mil and then pocket $400k after he owes us $2mil.

Edit: just read Texas will pay UofL $4.4mil. Wow!

Looks like Strong's buyout was $4.3m. I don't think Petrino's buyout would be an issue. JMO.

$2 million is nothing for these guys. Good for Western.

Zero chance he pissed everyone and their brother on his exit. The guy has a legacy of pissing off every previous employer. This is the equivalent of thinking he has a chance to return to the Falcons

Louisville shows true colors again that winning > integrity.

When Petrino left the first time, Jurich mentioned that Krackpipe was there to "clean up the mess left by the last administration." Short memories indeed.

So Kentucky has always been squeaky clean? Yes Petrino may not be Husband of the year material, but if his scandal has nothing to do with the actual football team why not forgive and forget? If he had broken some recruiting rules that would be different, but what we are talking about is an affair.

Always fun to dig out Mike Zimmer's (currently the Bengals' DC) thoughts on Petrino. Zimmer was Petrino's DC in Atlanta when Petrino walked out on the team.

“He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth.”

When asked if he had seen a two days like that before, where the Falcons lost on Monday Night Football, a coach resigns and then is doing “Woo Pig Sooie” 24 hours later in front of Arkansas boosters, Zimmer said: “No, most people in football have enough courage about them and enough fight to stick through something and not quit halfway through the year. It is cowardly.

“He came in and said he resigned, he would talk to us all at a later date, walked out of the office and no one has ever talked to him since. Not that anybody wanted to.

“He’s a gutless b—–d. Quote that. I don’t give a s—.”

When told that we might might not be able to use the B word, Zimmer went one better: “How about this, gutless MF. You can use that.”

If he does come back I won't be upset. Yes the man has had some controversy over the years, but he is a hell of a coach. No doubt in my mind Louisville will be rolling with him at the helm, pair that with being in a top tier conference and the future could be bright.

No doubt at all that he is a Offensive Guru and if he comes back Louisville won't miss a beat. He fell hard from grace and maybe he has changed. If he does get a second chance from Louisville he better make it his last stop coaching.

Call me crazy, but I don't think Petrino to Louisville is completely out of the question.

I have a buddy close to the program…his name is beginning to circulate with some regularity. Unbelievable, but true.

No way I'd let my kid go to Louisville if Bobby P was the coach.
