Petrino back to Louisville

I would like to see some Louisville fans take on it....On the outside looking in, I'm a bit surprised, although he's won a lot of college games.

Would this be similar to us hiring the Lane Train again? I realize BP has won after leaving, while Kiffin struggled at So Cal, and Petrino was not "one and done" like Kiffin. But the way each respectively burned their school seems kinda similar to me on some levels.

Would like to hear some die hard Cardinals fans take on the hiring.

UofL student-wise, I was told yesterday that there were signs all over the campus wanting Petrino back.

The one UofL supporter that I talked to this morning is pretty ify. Understanding the desire to get "W's", but at what cost? That was his take.

Not true. His wife loved UofL and never wanted him to leave but she couldn't deny him the opportunity at the NFL. She loves KY and that's one of the reasons he was so willing to take the WKU job. They have a daughter at UofL, one residing in Louisville and their other daughter is married to one of his coaches so they'll be there. If he leaves UofL he'll likely end up divorced and worth 50% less.
So.... she'll stay with him after he employs an ex-volleyball player so he can have an affair, but she'll by God divorce him if he leaves Kentucky. Makes perfect sense. :)

At the press conference, he joked about almost having 2 wrecks on the way over.

Bad timing?

I'm in Louisville, and honestly, the fan base is split. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Any clue on his staff? Saw some UT fans freaking out on twitter claiming their staff has ours beat. Not saying ours is the best, but its got some good recruiters, so I'd like to see who he gets.

Only name I've heard is Randy Shannon for DC, but not confirmed.

My point is she's calling the shots in his marriage right now. I'm a WKU alum and Bowling Green resident that knows the story more so than many on here. He said in his press conference at WKU, that his wife wanted to return to KY and WKU was one of the few jobs she would've approved of if he wanted to get back into coaching. And in all honesty, I can see here not tagging along if he were to hop again. They're in their 50's and their entire family is in state now, she has no desire to move again.

BP is a sack of shi te but He will win immediately. That is all that most Fans want nowadays, morals be damned. I could see BP leaving for Florida in a season or two when They are looking for a new Head Coach.

So spill the beans.... All this talk about being a "changed man." I've seen reports from multiple sources about him being a royal arse to the good people of BGKY.

Ten years ago today, UNLV beat Baylor on 100-yard fumble return by Thomas | Las Vegas Review-Journal

It was only John Robinson’s second game as UNLV’s coach and the second one for coach Kevin Steele at Baylor. Nine days earlier in a 26-3 victory at North Texas, UNLV ended a 16-game losing streak and 26-game road skid.

Steele was facing similar issues. Coming off consecutive 2-9 seasons, the Bears had lost the week before at Boston College 30-29 on a missed extra point in overtime.

Wanting to establish a more aggressive and confident mindset, Steele saw an opportunity in the closing seconds against UNLV.

Leading 24-21, Baylor had gained a first down to the Rebels’ 8-yard line with 28 seconds to play. UNLV had no timeouts remaining, so Baylor quarterback Jermaine Alfred only had to drop to a knee and the congratulatory handshakes would have begun.

“When you have the chance to ice the game, you ice it,” Robinson said. “You can’t let some agenda get in the way.” But Steele did, instructing his players to try to score a touchdown. UNLV players were furious when they saw the Bears go into a huddle, and they knew they couldn’t allow Baylor to score.
