Peyton Gives Butch Huge Endorsment!!!!

Really? Are people just taking fiction and running with it to rewrite history because it suits their agenda?

Manning after the first time he met Kiffin:

Yep. Sounds like the same thing. "I'll tell you later."

People need to start doing some actual research before taking Debbie Downer statements as gospel fact. The Debbie Downers need to stop making stuff up to feed an agenda.
The paragraph under says lane is a hard worker, and his players work hard. Seems like somebody doesn't like Kiffy at all.

Yeah, he pretty much did.

Comments on CDD: (This is a s close as you can come to fulfilling the claim that Peyton "said the same things about...")

“So far I’ve enjoyed what Coach Dooley has had to say and his philosophy on things. Certainly, everybody’s got to give him time to establish himself and establish his principles. The things that he and I have talked about in his way of doing things, it makes a lot of sense.

“I think Coach Dooley will get us going in the right direction

Per CBJ:

"He's got it all mapped out," the Denver Broncos quarterback said. "I like his slogans, his philosophies, the things that he believes in. He's really preaching accountability to his players. It seems like the players have really bought in. ... The most inspiring thing is how excited he is to be here. This is the job that he wanted, and this is where he wants to stay and wants to retire. Those are the kind of people we want here at Tennessee, the people who are all-in Tennessee Vol. I can tell he is that."

So, LK... Basically: "No comment. Let's wait and see."

CDD: Baiscally: "I like what I've heard so far. He should get us going in the right direction." (Which he did, btw.)

CBJ: Basically: "He has it all mapped out. He is the kind of people we want at UT."

If you can't see the progression of being impressed and excited, then I don't know what to say. But in any event, PM did not say the same things about each hire.

As a matter of fact, his comments about LK should prove that he will not blow useless smoke about a hire just because he was hired. So, does PM's comments about CBJ guarantee that CBJ will be a success? No. Does his comments (ore lack thereof) indicate that PM is truly impressed and excited? I think so. And that was the point of the original post.

No it didn't. (Sorry to be contrary. lol) It said his staff works hard. He didn't go out of his way to say too much nice about LK, in hindsight. lol

He's fishing for a compliment on Kiffy. He could of said "Kiffy is a great coach, and we will see his progress." If you're complimenting his staff in a quote about him, you're trying not to compliment him.

Peyton also said Dooley needed more time.

just take his statement, that was made in April before the coach has even taken the field, and enjoy it for what it is

Yes, he did. My point is that PM didn't give blind cream puff statements about the coaching hires, as proposed by some on this thread. So, if he said he believed CDD needed more time, it's probably true. If he says he believes in CBJ and "he's the kind of person we want at UT", it's probably true.

I don't recall seeing anyone in this thread claiming that a PM endorsement guarantees success. I think they are doing exactly what you recommend, taking it for exactly what it is and enjoying it... despite the efforts of some to rewrite history and crap on the endorsement.

people are just reading a bit too much into what PM said while there are also some downing it a bit too much. Sure it's nice to hear but anyone who has listened to PM talk about the UT program probably could have figured out about 75% of his statement without hearing it first. He's very careful to be politically correct in everything

History shows that he is very careful to be politically correct. However, as my quotes should show, he has shown no propensity for saying anything that he does not believe.

Based on his previous quote history, I would like to shake the hand of that 75% who would have predicted that PM would call CBJ "the kind of person we want at UT", as well as the use of terms such as "inspiring".

PM is purposefully vague when he is "being careful" to be "politically correct". He all but gushed about CBJ. When seeing the quotes lined up, there is a distinct difference.

Again... I'm not sure that anyone has taken the quote as a guarantee. But they do seem decidedly different.

(Not trying to be argumentative. I'm mainly giving a shout-out at those that called out the excited among us by spreading misinformation.)

Peyton gave a generic compliments to Kiffydools. It says a lot that he's gushing for Jones. He must like him.

Nope, I'm "That GIRL"

:hi:

And all I was doing was stating a fact, I love Manning, respect him but the fact is he said the same thing about Kiffen and Dooley. These are just standard words they say about every coach. They are great to hear but mean squat until we see him do it.

I truly do think that Coach Jones could be a great asset to the staff, I'm certainly loving the recruiting for 2014. But it still is up in the air whether he can win games in the field.

Until Football season all we can do is wait to judge.

You mean the voice of reason in the middle of a mental institution? I agree. :p

Don't get me wrong, I love me some BJ, but I'm not a blind optimist after living through the last decade of UT football.

By "voice of reason", you actually meant spreading misinformation as fact? PM did not say the same things about each coaching hire-- not really even close. And the words "kind of person we want at UT", and "inspiring" are in no way standard for PM."

Good grief! This is getting more ridiculous than breaking down every word of the Gruden interview with Mike & Mike.

Bottom line, what difference does any of it make? NONE!

I will get destroyed for this, but i hope people remember it's going to take a while.

I have a feeling after the trips to Oregon and Florida it will be world war III on this board.

The light may be visible at the emd of the tunnel, but there is still some darkness left

I would disagree. What's ridiculous is posting untrue statements as fact, correcting those who disagree with the untrue statements, and expecting factual evidence to not be brought into the discussion.

I don't think it's ridiculous to actually post the quotes in questions. Why do you?

Bottom line, what difference does any of it make? NONE!

Just because it makes little difference to you does not define what it may mean to others. Obviously, there are some on here that are encouraged by the endorsement. Obviously, others aren't. But what's not relative is the history that has been misrepresented by those instructing other about how they should feel about the endorsement.

If you feel that the endorsement is of little value, then this may not be the thread for you.

It hurts me to do this but...

I agree with you, gator.

I feel dirty and now I'm going to wash my hands.

How many, "Butch doesn't get it" threads will be on here?

There is no middle ground on this board. That's what makes it comic relief.

This is why we must be patient with Butch. Hell, Dave Serrano has had a much tougher build, and he just beat Kentucky in baseball. It takes time.

Of course there's middle ground. But their opinion doesn't interest the "only one side to be on" posters.

Weren't you the one talking about the progression of Manning's excitement with our last 3 coaches?

If that's the middle ground, holy crap! :loco:

He was talking about how people are saying PM always says the same thing every coach. Orange proved that it was different from coach to coach.

Again, to go through the trouble of point out "hair splitting" differences is akin to breaking down each word of the Gruden interview on Mike & Mike.

Eh? WTH are you talking about? Pointing out the differences in quotes, as a response to the misinformation that there was no difference, and then agreeing that we need to be patient?

That seems extreme to you? I can understand why you think there is no middle ground, after seeing your definition of middle ground.

Again, to go through the trouble of point out "hair splitting" differences is akin to breaking down each word of the Gruden interview on Mike & Mike.

Context:

"He said the same things about Kiffin and Dooley."

Me: "No he didn't."

Response: "Yes. He did."

Me: "Here are the quotes. He wouldn't even respond about Kiffin. He liked what he heard so far about Dooley. He has great faith in CBJs plann, says he has it all mapped out, thinks he is "the kind of person we want at UT" and finds him "inspiring".

It's ridiculous to prove your point when someone calls it out? OK. I guess...

Or, do you prefer the people in this thread that posted garbage misinformation without backing it up with facts? Personally, I prefer my way of doing things.
