Again, is any of this going to matter when UT travels to Oregon, UF, and Bama? NO!
Please show any quote from this thread that says they will. What you will see is that some people n here were encouraged that PM seems impressed with CBJ. Since he has more insight into the program than we do, and many respect his opinions, it proves (for some) to be a ray of sunshine, in a dark period, during the offseason when there isn't much more to discuss.
Would you prefer they shut the board down until the first game? My vote on that would be "no".
Manning isn't reading his answer verbatim from a cue-card. If you're going to say his answers pertaining to Kiffin, Dooley, and Jones are COMPLETELY different, then that's your opinion and you're welcome to it. I disagree and think they are similar.
I'm not interested in whether they were verbatim, and readily agree to some similarities. You are misrepresenting my point, probably because you seem to have missed the greater context of the argument, thus missed the point. (That isn't intended as an insult, btw.)
The point being made was an inference that you can't read anything into PM's quotes because he is always going to respond the same way. I took issue with that assertion. Others took issue with my taking issue, and again pushed the misinformation.
Another brief recap of PM's responses:
LK-- "Wait and ask me two years from now."
Now, if you can't see the extreme differences between that and:
CBJ -- "He has it all mapped out." "He's the kind of guy we want at UT." "...truly inspiring..." "I think (the CBJ era) is a really exciting time at Tennessee.
I really do." etc...
The question is not about any perceived similarities. It's about the VAST differences, which are not opinion, but fact.
As an aside... I only made such a big deal of it in response. I was content to post a one sentence disagreement with the assertion until the fiction-writers pushed back. Then I gave ample evidence that they are wrong and need to stop pushing misinformation. IMHO, giving evidence to prove what you say is a better way of presenting yourself.
