Peyton's Poorest Decision

I would disagree with the WR assessment. I would say they're relatively close. With Kendell Wright and Nate Washington, along with Delanie Walker and bright new rookie Justin Hunter. Chris Johnson also had a nice year receiving though the run game ultimately suffered- talent wise its a really good core group of players with the right QB could be great. WR wasn't the problem this year for the Titans. With Peyton Titans WRs would improve drastically statistically. Early in the year the Titans looked like a decent team 3-1, but after Locker's injury they only won 4 more games out of 12. The Titans had a better defense then Denver this year despite have an offense that was very anemic with Fitzpatrick at the helm. As Seahawks showed it takes defense to win Championships. While the Titans defense wasn't on the same caliber level as the Seahawks, obviously, I believe defensively and offensively the pieces were there for a very good season one piece was missing a QB.

I agree 100%. The Titans sure played better than the Broncos vs Seattle this year. Also, SF defense has been stout for years. People that are bashing me for mentioning him playing for SF instead of Denver are also the one's that think Peyton is the GOAT. After last night, I can't imagine their defense. HA

It's gotten better, definitely, but I'd still take the Broncos receivers over ours though.

Peyton is obviously a smart QB, BUT he did not make a smart decision in signing with Denver!!!! He could have signed with SF or SEA, but he went for the glamorous offense team instead of choosing a team that had the Defense to win a Super Bowl. If he would have signed with SF, we would probably be talking about Peyton Manning, a 3 time Super Bowl winner.

Silly.

Simply not true, when he signed with Denver they had the best D in the league that year. An older D but they had carried the broncos to the second round of the playoffs (please, no what about Tebow comments). I honestly wish he would have signed with the Titans.

2010 Total Def
SF 13
SEA 27
Den 32

2011 Total Def
SF 4
Sea 9
Den 20

2012 Total Def
SF 3
Sea 4
Den 2

Peyton did not play in 2011 and thus made his choice after 2011 season. Denver's defense was #20 when he made the choice to sign with them. They went to #2 his 1st year with Denver and lost to Baltimore in playoffs. I still think he made a mistake in signing with Denver over SF. Peyton is a true VFL and wonderful ambassador for UT.

Tim Tebow took the same team to the playoffs. They have plenty of talent.

The rage I had when he didn't sign with the Titans...so much of it.

He has better recievers in Denver than he would have with the Titans, so I don't fault him TBH.

But he would have had better Pass Blocking in Nashville.

My Vol side will always love Peyton, but my Titan side is still mad he went to Denver.

Peyton fits in Denver fine. The Broncos just got their a$$es whipped. It happens.

I totally agree I don't think Denver playing at their best could have beaten Seattle last night. They played like a team possessed last night.

So one of the greatest QB's to ever play on a team with arguably the greatest defense ever would not equal a championship?

It was really stupid for Manning to go to the team that let him install his own offense which led to him breaking almost every passing record this season and making the Super Bowl.

He would have been much better off going to a ball control offense in San Francisco that had a QB they drafted no. 1 coming off a career season in Alex Smith.

i think the dynamic of the team would change and i don't think the team would be the same kind of physical football team.

Nobody mentioning that Seattle was able to afford all those defensive studs because Wilson basically plays for free?

So because the offense would get a huge upgrade, the defense is all of a sudden going to change? How so? I am curious.

Titans are garbage. Vandy is more Tennessee-ish than the titans; they've only been here since what like 1995?

Yeah I love the Titans fans that dis me for following Peyton....pulling for the Colts and now Denver. I never had a real favorite pro team growing up. Was a VFL in college football but I would pull for the underdog teams mainly in the NFL on Sundays....especially in the Super Bowl. Hell I pulled for the Titans in their glory days with McNair and George....except when they played Peyton. I was at U.T. when Manning was...I'm a month younger than him....and watched nearly every home game he ever played in Neyland....along with multiple road trips for away games. That is why I am a fan of his and followed him from his rookie season on. We came up at the same time...and it began my fandom if you will.

People pull for teams for strange reasons all the time. In high school...there was a bunch of Dolphins fans only because of Marino's success. For some pulling for a great player to succeed will make you pull for his team...they go hand in hand....just like the 49er's fans I knew that became Chiefs fans when Montana was showed the door.

I have no idea who I will pull for when Peyton retires...maybe it will be the Titans...but they were the Oilers to me when they moved here...and I had more ties and loyalty to Manning then at that time then the former Houston left overs that moved to Nashville in 1997. That is what they seemed like to me back then.
