This is why I love college football because eonomics do not determine where someone plays. There is no Colts without Peyton - I hope it doesn't happen!

Great read on Peyton's situation with the Colts. Has there ever been a professional athlete with as much class? Refers to Rob Lowe as Sodapop Curtis... priceless! SIAP

Peyton Manning: Irsay, not Grigson, will decide his future with Colts | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com

Indy won't pay Manning a 28,000,000 roster bonus plus another 8,000,000 for the 2012 season. They have soooo many other needs on the team.
Manning won't be traded because no other team will (1) take on his salary and (2) teams will be unsure of his health status. Even if the doctor gives him a clean bill of health (3) He hasn't played since the play offs of 2010 -2011 season.
If he wants to play, he will choose his team. If not, then he will retire.....
I am disappointed because I thought for sure that after 5 more seasons, he could break Favre's, t.d., yardage and consequetive starts and wins record. Not going to happen now though.

Earlier on ESPN Peyton was sayign that some of the guys keys would not work in the facilities. Were they simply referring to the coaches or are they cutting players already as well?

I am a Colts fan because of Manning.

Without Peyton, I could care less about the Colts, probably like a heck of alot of Colts/Peyton fans.

Irsay may find that out the hard way. JMO

The Colts are in the process of cleaning house and getting ready to build a new team around A. Luck.

Maybe, but you can't pay a 36 yr old player coming off 2 neck surgeries 28 mil. I am going to guess a good number of fans stick around due to the excitement around Luck.

Can anyone see him ending up at the 49ers? I think that would put them in good shape for a Super Bowl run. I don't think Alex Smith can get it done there.

He ends up in either Miami or Nashville. Either offers him a chance at the playoffs and another Super Bowl. SF will stick with Smith and Washington is a royal mongolian wesson oil party.

You mean the Alex Smith who was robbed of his chance to get to the Superbowl because of a fumble on a punt return or that one that beat the Hi octane Saints offense?

You cant be serious.

Call me nuts  but I could see Manning wind up in Miami. The Heat went out and signed James and Bosh. The Marlins just spent a boatload this off season to drum up interest in their kick-@ss new park.

I could see the Phins breaking the bank to get Manning. I don't know how the $28 mill comes into play (if the Colts can eat part of that as in baseball).
