PFF: Kamal Hadden grades as the 4th best P5 CB

Maybe so. He isn’t much of a tackler, but he has had some good moments s of late. Looking at the PFF grades, you can see how good the defensive line is and how much easier they are making the lives of the rest of the defense. Pierce, Eason, and Baron have consistently graded very highly. If you can win with four, defense is easy.
You're trying too hard. Hadden had one grotesque moment vs UF. Otherwise he hasn't been a bad tackler.

He and the secondary playing better is also letting the guys up front play more aggressive. There were times when pressure broke A&M down. There were other times when the secondary just had everything covered. Hadden is a very big part of that. I believe part of the reason fans have been so tough on him is because he's the guy they've asked to play tighter coverage. He looks worse at times... but who really is? Him or the guy giving a 7 yard cushion on every play?

Im still angry about that missed tackle @ Florida. But im coming around on him. Not ready to forgive just yet.
Missed tackle? He might as well gave the runner a escort into the end zone. I can take a lot, but I can't take 0 effort. Pitiful!

It's Pearce. It's ok to give Hadden credit. No one will look at you differently from saying he has improved.

Hi has a lot of talent and, apparently, has had a change in attitude. In other words, he may have grown up and is playing the best of his career. He is non longer jawing at the other teams players and going about his business. n If he continues, he can be one of the best acts in the Country.

His "attitude" has been an issue ?!

Literally just took one reply to try and take away the season Hadden is having.

We have some absolutely miserable fans.
I’ll say it. I’ve been very critical of Hadden; hell I even thought the Carolina game might’ve been just a flash in the pan. Last game though he was phenomenal, was in very good position most of the time and was ready for the ball when it was thrown his way. Really want to see him succeed in a hostile road environment this weekend.

Hadden has had multiple examples of poor tackling. I also don't agree with your assessment of how he's used. He's a boundary corner because he is the guy they want to use his athleticism to make plays which usually results in playing off to bait the QB. Jeudy-Lally has been playing field corner and has been lined up right on the WR most of the time. Not as athletic but a good tackler and fundamentally sound.

With that said, other than a few plays (mainly tackling and couple in coverage) I'm glad he's done well. I hope he grades out that well after we get through the meat of our schedule.

In fairness, it’s been against subpar competition and he was awful in the FL game. He has played horrendously since he has been here, and there is nothing wrong with tempering expectation. That said, I think in a way the post you are referencing implies his chances were lessened when we weren’t getting pressure on the QB, which they are. I still think there is great improvement in Hadden, because even the subpar teams threw all over him in the past, and that isn’t happening. He is also noticeably committing to the tackle and making tackles. Seems to know where the ball is at to make any interception and not dropping the ball when he has an easy opportunity. If he can keep this up against quality opponents, which I hope he does, he will get to thumb his nose at us all, along with the entire defense and staff. I’m rooting for Hadden as he was a prized transfer and he is just a kid who has been playing his butt off lately. We seem to be what have you done for me lately as a fan base, and that should go both ways. Meaning, he deserves his praise.

I also like Martinez. He has produced some big time corners and would like to see him stick around. Of course, much of that is based on performance. Just seems like Heupel’s loyalty and overall continuity is paying off in most areas.

I’m hoping to see Joe have a big game soon as well. He played so well against Vandy and Clemson last year. I think he may have found his wheels last game after not running through the defensive player to gain 2 yards and keep an important drive alive against A&M. Something lit a fire in him.

I’d like to see Keyton find his game again as well. Kid flashed NFL potential last year. He’s been patient. I want to see him succeed.

Go Vols!!!
Wtf are you saying. South carolina has a legit nfl wide out who had a good gsme against Florida. Texas a and m is a legitimate team. He is shutting down everyone he plays against. Gtfo with that ****.

You mad bro? A&M has already lost 3 games. Their QB is awful. A good game against FL? FL was blown out by KY who was blown out by Missouri and FL lost to a Utah team that was playing a 3rd string QB. Also, it wasn’t just Hadden that shut down Legette. We doubled teamed him, because Juice Wells was out.

The result was they had another receiver with over 100 yards receiving, but we still shut them down relatively speaking.

AGAIN, this is a team sport. You can’t just blame one person or give one person all the credit. Hadden is playing much better, but his past performance was NOT good prior to this season and we have yet to play Georgia or Alabama.

Did some of that have to do with lack of DL pressure last year? Sure. But everyone knows how bad he was playing, and he’s definitely playing better.

I think Missouri, KY, GA and Bama are better than any team we have faced and he, along with the rest of our D will be tested by all of them.

I’m rooting for Hadden, but I’m not going on a weak schedule. We will see.

So we shouldn't celebrate the wins, only the STATS and now when the STATS show a player is doing well at his position, we shouldn't celebrate that because the player hasn't been perfect on every play?

I don't get it at all.

Missouri and UK aren’t better than A&M.

Hadden has improved his play from his inconsistent performances last season. He’s always shown flashes and potential.

But, I’m so tired of hearing about PFF. People put far too much emphasis on their evaluations.

So who should we trust? The fan that's angry about something from last year or the fan that's angry from a month ago. If only there was unbiased publication that watched games and graded players based on their play. Such a conundrum to be in.
