Phil Fulmer talking to assistants

Why is Fulmer not better ... i keep seeing people saying no, but no reason why. Just jabs at his weight. His record is better than any coach on the list and the main reason his record went downhill was the OC's couldn't decide if they were coming or going. Sanders was mediocre, Cutcliffe just used Tennessee as a stepping stone for another head coaching job, and Clawson was a trainwreck.

Fulmer is over the hill. He was a great in his prime, but his prime is long past. Like it or not, he was in decline when he was forced out. The fact things turned out the way they have is due to Hambone being an idiot. If Hammy had half a brain, he would have paid for a better coach when Fulmer was let go. And he certainly was horrible with contracts. I respect what Fulmer did for UT, but he is not the solution. People need to get over the butthurt and let it go.

I'd be down with giving Fulmer a 10 month contract like John L. Smith, if we can't land Fisher, Gundy, Stoops, Petersen, Patterson, or Petrino.

Okay? um who the hell are you? When you say WE, you need to actually need to be a VOL!!!!:crazy::crazy:

Over the hill :eek:lol: .... Steve Spurrier is 67 and Bobby Bowden was hitting around 80 when Florida State let him go. Strong, Gundy, and Fisher wish they can match Phillip Fulmers record.

Fulmer is a very smart man, he leveraged his power when he had it (Hamilton hired as AD), as a coach he owes his success to CDC.

Funny that snyder is 72. People bring up he retired answer this please.

Snyders last to seasons before he retired was

2004 4-7
2005 5-6

Did he retire or was he asked to leave and they gave him the opportunity to leave on his own terms.

Maybe their AD handled the situation better than ours.

Son? I've been in the Marines almost 25 years, I think I have succeeded. All I was saying us just because I'm in the military doesn't mean I have to kiss everyone's a$$. So Boy have a good day.

Son, I've been retired from the Army since 1982, and I don't recall anyone saying that because you serve/served in the military that you have to kiss anyone's foot. You just need to use your military training and calm down a bit. If I'm not mistaken, Army, Navy, USMC, USAF, USCG are all on the same side... that is, unless I've missed something along the way. Also, Vol fans, though we may not all agree on everything, we are Vol fans. We who have served have bled and died in our various ways, among other things, to preserve people's rights to their opinions. Just because others differ with you on some non-eternal subject does not mean that they are putting you down, or that they want you to kiss their foot. That is all I was trying to tell you in my earlier post. My sincere apologies if I offended your sensitivities regarding age (I'm getting to be an old geezer too); however, I daresay that you are about twenty years my junior in age.

If it had not been for David Cutcliff , Fulmer would never have won a National Championship.

Cutcliff definitely had a big role in getting to the NC but he left before the BCSCG. Randy Sanders called the plays in that game.

Don't get a comment like this - like he woke up one day and forgot how to coach - unless his health is bad - he's a great coach that won a lot of SEC games for us - just don't get "past his prime"

Old man if you go back and read the earlier post SHE was the one who got all mad because I didn't share her views. Have a good day sir.

And you have a good evening, Sergeant. If ever in Gulfport, look me up and perhaps we can have a cup of coffee and some great seafood.

Phillip Fulmer used to be good.

"Used to be," being the operative words. Just because he had some beastly teams in the 1990's doesn't mean he'd be able to do that now, especially if he doesn't have Cutcliffe and Chavis on the sideline with him. I appreciate what he did for our football program, but he's no longer a viable option.
