Phrases/Cliches that annoy you.

"storm of the century" to describe any major storm

"beast mode"

"...hold my beer" if you really are that big a badass, you should be able to do it one-handed and not spill anything
Can I add a corollary here? I hate it when some athlete gets hot for a short period of time and he is labelled the greatest of all time. Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, among many others.

  • "Just sayin"
  • "mani & pedi"-my friends girlfriend always says this and it grates on me
  • "in this day & age"
  • "you should thank your lucky stars"
  • "staycation"

artisan anything food related, I get it that you can do some pretty cool stuff with blocks of American cheese and Bar-S hot dogs, that doesn't make you an artist.

Disagree. If they possess a skill, i.e. cooking and preparing quality food in an appetizing manner, they are an artisan by definition.

You don't find value in it, and that's fine, but others certainly do.

The it's overused. Everyone is an artisan. I cook artisan **** all the time.

But, the term is being applied everywhere. Artisanal beer, artisanal tacos, artisanal cupcakes.

It's like Chilean Sea Bass, it's a term conjured up by a marketing department.

I remember a radio ad that ran for a while on some Knoxville station, I guess it was for an arts/crafts fair or something like that, but they referred to things made by "skilled artesians". I always alternated between being amused and annoyed.

Came here to post this

This one is the worst for me. When I was going through a rough divorce, I heard this countless times. I understand that they were trying to be supportive but it just made me feel worse.
I have always felt that it was offered by people that could not think of anything constructive to say.

Probably the most meaningless phrase IMO.
