Phrases/Cliches that annoy you.

That can be a good gauge of whether or not I'm going to be friendly with someone. If you're a guy and don't think farts are funny, you're probably uptight and not fun to be around. Seriously.

How about if your insists on guessing what you are?

The use of the word "opinion". Maybe I don't understand the correct definition but it seems to me you can't have an opinion on a matter of which you have zero personal knowledge. You can have a "guess".

It is my opinion that sugar maples are prettier in the fall than post oaks. That's a thing about which you can have an opinion, if you've seen both in fall, right?

It is my opinion coach A is better than coach B. If you've watched them both coach for awhile, seen their records, their recruiting results, etc., you could have an opinion on that, right?

It is my opinion UT will hire coach (fill in the blank). Huh? Can the average fan, with zero personal knowledge of the situation, have an opinion? Or is that a guess?

A UT player from the west coast, on a non revenue team, transferred to a school in the player's home state. A poster, who admits to having no knowledge of the situation, states it is his/her opinion the player will regret the decision to transfer. Wut? Isn't that like me stating "it is my opinion it will rain in Memphis 6 days next June"? I could end up being right or wrong, but that's not an opinion, is it?:) I've confused myself

When a radio talk show host makes what he or she thinks is a particularly salient point and they then say into the microphone, “is this thing on?”

Usually right before they start a live read commercial.

These 32 Business Cliches Need to Die | Inc.com

Any word or phrase that makes a simple concept sound complicated drives me crazy, or clichés that you'd never say in any other setting.

If a buddy asks you to help him move and you're busy, you'd say "Sorry, I don't have time today." If your boss asks you to do something and you don't have time, people say "I don't have the bandwidth right now." Saying "leverage" instead of "use." Saying "utilize" instead of use. The word "synergy." "Take this offline" or "circle back" instead of "let's talk about this later."

In business or professional settings, people can sound so pretentious. I understand wanting to be professional, but that doesn't mean you can't also speak simply.
