Back when I used to have Sirius, there was a guy who hosted a show on the Broadway channel who would use “amazing” a lot but he pronounced it like am-ahhh-zing. He just did it as a lark but it was a bit much, I always thought.

Not really. Teenagers have had their own vernacular that annoys adults of the time for decades. They grow out of it.
