I hope we beat the UGA Bulldogs this year.My neighbors are UGA grads and it makes for a long season when we lose to the Freakin UGA Bulldogs! I wanna hold my head up high again!:banghead:

But if we can win at least 3 of the following:

Cal, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and LSU

then I'll still be satisfied....

All of the SEC games are huge, but I'll say Cal. Always nice to get started off on the right foot with a win.

Also, maybe it's just the East Coast bias in me that doesn't allow me to take Cal seriously, but I feel if the Vols have a lot of trouble with Cal, things could really look bad against Florida, Georgia, and LSU.

Cal. They're wildly overrated. We play at least 5 teams I think are as good or better than they are. If you can't beat them, it's going to be a long season.

UGA....Richt is working on surpassing Spurier with 'owning' us. He's beating us in recruiting and play on the field. UGA has become the media darling. I can't say that Richt being a class act hurts that image. But living here in the heart of Dawg country, I can't go through another year of "Hob nosed boot stomping contest..Volunteers wanted" shirts being worn around here.....that and "Volunteer girls like it Dawgie style" just has to stop.

Bama. I'd rather go 1-11 and beat Bama than go 11-1 and lose to them. Try living this state!

CAL!!

I can't tell you how many times Pac 10 fans have claimed they're NOT inferior because they beat Bama, Auburn, and Miss St. this decade. No matter how many times you tell them that those teams weren't our best representatives at the time, they still scream, "We're 7-3 against the SEC this decade, therefore, we're a better conference!!"


The SEC has a chance to make it 7-7 this year, but that cherry pickin window of 5 years is never going to leave the Pac 10's conscience.

Given the paucity of good teams on their schedule, they don't have to be anything special to go 10-2. However, I don't think they will approach that level of success.

If Cal is the best team UT plays this year, every coach in the SEC should be totally ashamed of the state of their program.

Tough one.

Alabama - natural rival
Florida - unnatural rival
Georgia - because I have to work down here
S. Carolina - Spurrier (nuff said)

I'm sure if you actually watched some college football you wouldn't make such an absurd comment. I have Cal dethroning USC and winning the PAC-10 this year. I think they are the best team on our schedule and if not they are easily top 3 with Florida and LSU.

Must Win Game - Cal (One of the toughest openers in UT history. Probably will be PAC-10 champs)

Always a Must Win Game - Florida!!! (Obvious...)

...as well as Athens, Gainesville, and Tuscaloosa. :thefinger:

1. Cal -- a win here will get us started mentally and in the polls. ( a shock effect)

2. LSU -- because they rocked our buses in Baton Rouge.

I agree that Cal is the must win game. IMO every game this year is a "must win" and it all starts with the Golden Bears. Beat Cal and there will be some peace and harmony among the Orange fans. Lose to Cal and expect to see the number of anti-Fulmer posters double exponentially with each loss this season.
