Pick one "Must Win Game " this year.

The LSU game is the most important game for Fulmer. It's his last chance in 2006 to show that the program has turned the corner. If we are 4-4 and we win this one and then run the table, the vol nation will give him another year. If we lose to LSU, wins over ARK, Vandy, and KY will not be enough to stop the revolution...IMO.

The Cal game (decisevely). After last years disappointing season this team should have and continue to have all season a chip on their shoulders.

How about a little positive thinking? If everything goes to plan, Kentucky. Capping an undefeated regular season and heading the Vols to the SEC and national championships would make this a "must win game".

There's a considerable difference between "positive thinking" and being delusional.

Game I want a win in the most-ALABAMA hands down. Last year's game should have been won. Words cannot describe how badly I want them beaten this year.

However.......

The must win game is-California. This game could very well set the tempo for the rest of the season. If we lose, hopes of the players could start going down the toilet again. But if we win it could mean a big boost of motivation for the whole team.

Just think how bad a year it would have to be for the Vanderbilt game to be lost. Oh, never mind.

Exactly. And, UK was a win last year.

Hey LG, is the Florida campus as a whole, still under martial law ( you know, since the gun (real gun) incident?

Nah, it was a close call, but for now we just hired your team to patrol our campus with Uzi's. Real Uzi's, but no bullets. Shhhhhhh.... your guys don't know that part.

Not in any order but the ones we MUST WIN to reach our first goal of the SEC Championship game. It is very easy to pick the games that we HAVE to win.

Florida
Georgia
Alabama
S. Carolina
LSU
Arkansas
Vandy
Kentucky

If we get those it will all be fine.
Anything other than being the "Beast of the East" will not achieve the teams, or CPF and all others goals.

I think that the must win game this year is Georgia. You cannot discout the importance of Cal and Florida, but you have to ask yourself what the goal of this years team is. If it is to get to the SECCG, then Georgia imo is more important than Florida. TN could conceivably lose to Florida, but if we beat Georgia , we're still in the race, especially considering FL's SEC schedule this year. I don't think Georgia will be our toughest game, but I do think it is the most crucial this year to go play for the championship.

I see what you're getting at, but for conversation: if UT went 8-0 in the SEC, but lost all of the non-conf games, finished 8-4, would you be happy with that?

I'd be confused as hell, but if they won the SEC Championship Game, I'd be happy.

Winning the SEC is only second to a Ntl. championship so yes if we win the SEC I for one will be happy with the season. The SEC is something we should be at the top every year. You can’t be a Ntl. Championship team ever year but yes the SEC should always be our measuring stick. To answer your question I believe all true sensible Vol fans would be very happy with an 8-4 along with the SEC Championship.

I agree with that 100% but to clarify my position, in this case it's strictly a matter of positive thinking. No more, no less.

Or, to compare it to poker, its 100 % skill and 100 % luck.

Florida is must win for me, because if UT loses I'll have to wear my classmate's "Waitin' on Peyton" shirt (as I had to this year), but if UT wins he has to don my Manning #16 jersey.

i think there are two games we should win....i hate to call them must win games, but that's what it basically boils down too...

1. CAl
2. GA

i know about UF and Bama....but UF on paper should be better than us....a loss to them is not a disgrace.....and i truly think we should be Bama.

but Cal, 1st game, top 15 coming to Knoxville...that game is important for a lot of reasons, mainly though for confidence. plus it would be nice to beat a top 15 team at home again. and UGA is coming to Knoxville, they are clearly vulnerable with the qb situation, and we need to slap them around.....

Here is something I found that doesn't make me feel better or worse, but it pretty much kept my state of confusion about what to expect the same:

2001-2005, Tennessee is 3-4 as a home favorite against Top 25 competition:

2001 - LSU - 10 point favorite - 26-18 win
2001- South Caro - 7 1/2 point favorite - 17-10 win
2002 - Florida - 5 point favorite - 13-30 loss
2002 - Alabama - 2 point favorite - 14-34 loss
2004 - Florida - 3 point favorite - 30-28 win
2004 - Auburn - 2 point favorite - 10-34 loss
2005 - Georgia - 3 point favorite - 14-27 loss

3-4 SU, 0-7 ATS

yeah, not too good....get that Cal win under your belt, protect the home feild and get a tune up (hopefully) against Air Force and get ready for Florida. If we were 3-0 i don't know what i'd do.....oh, man, i can't wait.

Why isn't the '03 UGA game on this list?
