Pickett Opts Out of Peach Bowl

He drastically improved his draft rating by returning this season. Not to the point of being able to skip showcasing opportunities imo.

Playing in the Senior Bowl, I think, so the same business decision Alontae Taylor made about showcasing his talent.

Tae has been nursing an injury for a while.

Even discounting that, big difference between a safety sitting out and a Heisman candidate QB.

Does not bode well for Mr Pickett.

Last QB I recall pulling this was Will Grier. Anybody heard anything from him lately? Yeah, me either

Different. Alontae has a foot injury he doesn't need to aggravate. He's trying to get right by the time the Shorts Olympics and pro days come calling to measure his physical skills...which will most likely translate to a position change. NFL teams need that tiebreaker on whether to invest a first round pick on Pickett. Senior Bowl helped Mahomes...who also played his bowl game.

It's a business decision, though, good or bad.

The fact he was a Heisman finalist says he already HAS shown his talent sufficiently. His call.

"Sufficiently" is up for interpretation. It will work out or it won't.

True. It is his call. Just pointing out that this has not historically worked out for QBs.

The QB class for the draft next April is horrible though.

I'm not so sure there is a QB who in a normal cycle would go in the first round. There is simply nobody who stands out and there are major flies on most of the front runners.

Again, business decision. There's a tendency here to think these guys aren't getting advice, looking at the draft class...... that they're dumb kids.

It's insulting to them if you think about it.

NIU is the second youngest team in college football. They’ll have many more games to play in
There aren’t many, if any, choosing not to play just because they don’t want to. But if you’re a guaranteed pick in the draft, it’s a different story

If the politics area of this board and the voting of TN show me anything it's that the folks around here believe in personal choice for a vaccine and other things, but they can't make that leap for athletes to make money and decide when their career goals exceed their team goals.

Find a mirror, you guys, and think about how much you really value personal choices.

Look, I'm sorry you're not going to get some kid to entertain you. Please, cry some more about how it's a bad decision while Kenny Pickett signs a deal in a few months for several million.
I’m disagreeing with your take…end of the science involved. No need to make it personal. 😏

I think he’s missing an opportunity to up his stock. Wasn’t planning on watching the game personally. Not sure why you shoehorned Covid into this.

If they’re not, you’re serving as a stunt double. 😉

So why would it bother you? Not YOUR call…agreed?
The disrespect bothers me here. Everyone wants to be "personal choice, my body, my decision" until it's play football...... then "they're walking out on the team. It's selfish. They're quitters."

And granted, not you personally, but there are plenty here and you know you've seen it.
