Pig Howard out for spring?

The spring does not matter that much, give our young receivers more reps, but we need PIG for the fall, be a huge lose.

It was too long ago that the team had a really high APR score and nobody was in trouble, so hopefully this is a recent situation that can be rectified rather quickly.

Pig, I don't care how much you like being Dobb's Groupie, no more calculus, quantum physics, or engineering courses til you get these grades straightened out.

Obama can be blamed for an awful economy, a hurried slide towards socialism, a more dangerous world for Anericans due to a disastrous foreign policy, trillions added to the national debt, a pathetically awful/oppressive healthcare plan, and a general overall national malaise.

But blame him for Pig not handling his business in the classroom? Nah.

Not to start a thing, but I think blaming any president for the national debt is beyond stupid. Setting aside the fact that our position as the world's primary currency allows us to essentially borrow for free, congress makes the budget. The president just makes a suggestion and then signs whatever congress passes (if anything).

Pig gives his all when in uniform and this is a shame. Get your things in order so we can see you come fall. We believe in you Pig!

Butch and some boosters need to have a chat with his professors.

Or... maybe Pig should take care of his academics. I highly doubt he's taking a difficult major. The majority of college students fail classes because of one thing -- being lazy.

Seems the rest of the team is doing fine academically. I don't believe Butch is the type to skirt academics either. Pig needs to step up his game off the field. It's that simple.

When did drug addiction become personal problems? What do they call it in Colorado?

I'm going to keep a positive attitude about this and believe that whatever the problems are that he WILL get it all straight and be ready to rock in the fall.

C'mon Pig, we're all behind you and we believe in you young man!

You CAN do whatever you set your mind to accomplish and work hard enough at.

Every team has this crap its not karma its called 85 young men partying n playing football some adjust n some don't..

Besides I thought cbj got it n ran a tight discipline ship... Well players getting arrested others not doing school work... Oh wait...lol

Jk sunshine sheep.

Yes, that's true. However, I was responding directly and specifically to a poster about the Howard issue and gave my supportive response. The operative terms I used were, ". . . it does seems every time when things appear to be going well for us, some crap pops up out of the blue and stifles it." Which denotes a degree of frustration and disappointment we experience setbacks. Kind of like any Vols fan who really wants consistent positive things to go our way for a change. Sorry my having feelings about this upsets you. Further, his post and mine had naught to do with "partying n playing football" in and of itself. It regarded puzzlement as to the rumors around Alton "Pig" Howard's spring status. But when you read selectively, you can like hypocrite Bible thumpers twist phrases into meanings that have no association with what the phrase actually says or means.

Finally, GASP, heart attack time! You actually said something positive about the man calling out AFA males for their own irresponsible conduct that holds them back!!!??? My gosh! Will wonders never cease? Congrats for growing up and having the guts to post it on VN. You actually learned that the first step to responsibility is to point your finger at your own part in a negative situation before pointing it at someone else. And that concept is advocated by someone you detest. Amazing!

Kids got a bright future hope he works it out.

Bright future? Where? If he washes out of college his only other option is to play in the NFL and frankly I don't see that as a real bright future, if ANY future at all.

Another case of a kid not cut out to play college ball. It's more than just playing the game in the fall to be a college player. They are supposed to be student athletes, not just athletes. It's not for everyone.

No, regardless of the talent coming in......We NEED Alton for his talent, experience, and drive. "Bench"???...really??

I wouldn't go as far as to say NEED. Frankly, his route running could use some work, and his hands could be better. Being a dynamic athlete is not enough in the SEC.

I hope he makes it back by fall, but I think he will be in a battle for PT regardless. We appear to be loaded at WR this year.

I love the Pig, but think Devrin is a better slot receiver. But the privilege of having both avaiable is indeed a privilege. So I hope the Pig returns and runs wild.

Well. Then that's that. Forget taking the intelligent approach to wait and see how it plays out. Let's guess the future and make definitive statements based on your pessimistic guess. I mean there has never been a case of a kid that got behind academically that wasn't able to dig himself out of a hole.

Hopefully our WRs take advantage of the opportunity for increased snaps. If Josh Smith can stop dropping every other pass thrown to him, he could have a hell of a bright future in the slot. He runs great routes.

Regarding Josh, wonder if the problem is small hands.
