Pilot Gets Kudos

It is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. As of now, no one outside of Pilot’s executives really understand the decision for Pilot to sponsor Neyland. My guess is that the people at Pilot think it’s a very good deal for them and they aren’t being charitable as some people seem to think.

I hope it’s something else and UT Athletics took in an obscene amount of money. My sense of being realistic says we were one of the first major programs to get in on this naming rights stuff, so prepare to watch us be outdone by our rivals as we are stuck in a 20 year deal.

Please don’t beat me up for being a naysayer. I don’t know anything beyond the first sentence here. I’m hoping that maybe questions like these contribute to helping our fans and myself understand exactly where we are in the grand scheme of competing against other collegiate programs. What’s great today might not look so good in 5 years, as outdoing one another is always the goal in college football.
I don’t see many deals like this being set up short term.

I understand the situation and fully admit it’s better than a stadium name change for sure, but I hate seeing the Pilot logos on the field. Guess I’ll have to get used to it.

I suppose business logo patches on jerseys are next.
Just wait until our uniforms look like NASCAR

Bro he is right.. trust me they have a board and its Haslam influenced. The fact we got the naming rights deal we got is proof of that. But as he alluded most boards of directors are not posted on websites because they are not public-facing roles they are internal. Any corp half the size of pilot has a board whether its publicly posted or not. According to knox news sentinel the Haslems still retain 2 of the 7 board seats. This article is Jan 16 the day it was announced they sold their last 20%

An interesting note, current CEO Adam Wright is a former (Nebraska) All-America running back who spent a few cups of coffee in the NFL so football guy for sure.
For clarification: Nebraska Omaha, not Nebraska at Lincoln.....big difference. Like UT Knoxville and UT Martin.

We were talking about Weigels at least the post he replied to was...Weigles is exclusively in East TN mostly Knoxville area
I couldn't distinguish for sure which one was the subject, but did that more out of curiosity than anything.

Anyone thinking they are being charitable is out of their minds? What they are being is smart. They are showing they get it to some extent. Having a CEO that's a former College/NFL football player likely helps that. Going this route saves them money and prevents a lot of the backlash that calling it Pilot Stadium would have caused. Some people will complain no matter what but this is awesome damage control and a great investment. The company is headquartered in Knoxville and has ties to Knoxville even ignoring the Haslams. It makes good business sense for both parties. Neither side is being charitable.

And right on cue, if anyone said anything about it, someone would pipe up immediately with that brain dead "you just don't like change" retort. "People just don't like change." Insipid platitude.

Good Lawd. So, Berkshire Hathaway has a board of directors. Every subsidiary of BH has its own board of directors. Seeing as how you like to claim legit information is not legit information, here is a link to the US SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION that list board of directors membership of different Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries!!! Notice, they all have different compositions. Warren Buffett is probably a member of most of them. To suggest that the board of Berkshire Hathaway oversees more than 80 multi-billion dollar corporations over a diverse spectrum of industries is truly ignorant. Like I said earlier, I wasn't trying to be rude, I was just pointing out you were wrong and I posted proof. You didn't like the proof so you push this back and forth, Sorry, this doesn't get to me. I just don't want others to see what you were saying and believing any of it. So here - from the SEC of all places 🤣 Each of these subsidiaries has it's own unique board of directors.
