Renovation completed in... 2003 or so? I had a few classes in there after they opened 'er back up, and attended a Trombonery concert there. The auditorium is pretty nice, as are the lecture halls.

Agree, it was a very nice auditorium.

It was under renovation for the beginning of my time, so I never really knew what it looked like as a gymnasium.

I did not remember Webb being any bigger than Beardens when I played in it. I'm my memories serves me correctly I think it was actually much smaller. I know Centrals is decently sized too.

unless Webb has really upgraded their gym it's not bigger than Bearden's.

Sounds to me like the only possibility to move to a much bigger gym and stay in Knoxville would be the Civil Coliseum. It'll probably stay in Bearden.

Webb's gym is not that big. That would be a joke. If Oak Ridge wasn't so far out of the way, that'd be the perfect spot.

Oak Ridge and is by far the best gym in the Knoxville area. It is about 15 minutes from Bearden.

It's longer than that. I used to live right near Bearden high school and it was about 30 min or so, which makes it about a 40 minute drive for the players from Downtown.

Well I live in Oak Ridge and go to almost all the Rocky Top games and it takes me no more than 20 min and if traffic is not too bad I can make it in 15. But I want to correct myself from the high school it is probably more like 20 min but definitely not 30.

Did they pick Bearden bc of the parking or what? I am guessing that all the HS gyms are pretty much the same so why Bearden over West or Fulton? Why not Farragut or Gibbs? Why not rotate it to a bunch of schools and then have the "playoffs" and the Civic Col? Just ideas, nothing more, nothing less.

You know, if they moved it out of Knoxville, a place that I think would be pretty nice for them to hold it would be Sevier County HS.

does Sevier Co still have that dome thing where the baskets are so far away from the walls? It was awful having to play there (depth perception was thrown off). Not to mention the basket heights never seemed to be consistent

I love that place because of what you just mentioned. Yea, it's still a dome where the baskets are far off from the walls.

The baskets, are well, consistent. Consistently low. They're around 9'5" or so.

funny to see they haven't changed in almost 20 yrs. All those factors made it tough for a team like ours that relied on the outside shot. I'm probably biased but Bearden is a much better gym

Is Oak Ridge's gym bigger than the Buck Van Huss Dome in Dobyns-Bennett?

I know we couldn't have the RTL there just curious.

I think BVH holds 5K

Yea, I do like Bearden's gym. Good place. Just wish it wasn't so damned hot in there.

Bearden has the best fans/parents/student section in Knox County, IMO. Farragut's student section is pretty good as well from what I remember.
