I don't even like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin is probably the most influential band ever, more then the Beattles.

Maybe within the Rock genre, but Pink Floyd has a huge influence over music in general. Wyclef Jean, Marilyn Manson, Billy Corgan, Thom Yorke, Korn, etc. Floyd attracts an eclectic group of fans. I frequently find people that generally dislike classic rock who like Floyd. I don't think you can say the same about Led Zeppelin.

I recognize that Zeppelin is the most popular band. Is that just an American thing? For some reason I don't picture LZ being as popular in the rest of the English speaking world.

Led Zeppelin is popular in most of the world, they are from England originally and were popular before touring here. To be honest, I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't like Zeppelin.

To me Pink Floyd is one of the most overrated band ever. I can't think of a single Pink Floyd song I like.

That's funny. Wouldn't say I dislike Zeppelin. I have about 50 of their songs on my mp3 player, but I almost always skip them. Maybe it's just me, but writing songs about Middle Earth isn't all that cool. I'll take the Stones, The Who, Floyd, CCR, Cream, etc. over Zeppelin.

Cream, the Stones, CCR, and Zeppelin have songs I love, but Floyd not one song I can think of. That's just my taste. But like I said I've never met anyone who didn't like Zeppelin. They have an amazing greatest hits list.

For me I can listen to these songs over and over and over:

Cream-White Room
Stones-Gimme Shelter
CCR-Fortunate Son
Zeppelin-Whole Lotta Love

But Floyd not one song I even like.

Great picks, but the ones I listen to on repeat are:

Cream - Tales of Brave Ulysses
Stones - Paint it Black
CCR - Someday Never Comes
Zeppelin - None of their songs

Not even "Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave grooving with a pict"

Ever heard the "Umma Gumma" album?
What about "Animals"? "Dark Side of the Moon"? "Wish You Were Here"?

I love both bands and would have to say I love Floyd just a little more

On another subject, "White Room" by Cream is simply awesome.
I think that was recorded in the late 60's.

Anyone who rates a band based on their radio play doesn't get the concept...

How WIMZ stays in business I will never understand.

WIMZ stays in business because they are the only strictly classic rock station in Knoxville. You can get some classic rock from Jack FM, but you have to sit through an hour of the most horrid pop of the last 30 years.

I like 'em both but listen to Zep a bit more. Both were in the elites of RnR.

Good call, Dude! I used to like Pink Floyd.....when I was in high school!! Dark Side of the Moon.....Duuuuuuuude! I don't get stoned anymore! But, Wish You Were Here is awesome.

Who is this dumb@$$ saying Led Zeppelin ain't no good, is over rated...etc. He is definitely a reTARD.

You don't even need to go out and get a "best of"....just Pick up Led Zeppelin and go from there!

Floyd lost their main song writer and creative force two times, and still had huge success.

Zepplin lost their drummer and couldn't go on. The argument can easily be made Bonham was irreplaceable I guess.

On the flip side, Syd Barrett and Roger Waters were replaceable??

Just playing devil's advocate. :devilsmoke:
