On the flip side, Syd Barrett and Roger Waters were replaceable??

Just playing devil's advocate. :devilsmoke:

Well played

I'm the biggest syd fan, but Floyd is not Floyd if he sticks around, and Glimour never joins.

Waters probably thought he was irreplaceable, he did write some amazing stuff.

Waters was irreplaceable. The music released after he left is really just David Gilmour solo stuff sold as Pink Floyd.

I lost interest in any new Floyd when Waters was shown the door.

It was the best when they collaborated. When Waters tried to do everything himself it was becoming too dark (The Wall, Final Cut), and then he left.

I think Floyd is the better band but I enjoy listening to Zeppelin's music more if that makes sense.

Either way you can't go wrong cause both bands are amazing.

I love Pink Floyd, they are an original and amazing band but they are a few steps behind Zepp, of course, I think Zepp is the best band ever.

Wow, this question, to me, is the hardest music question that can be asked. Both Bands are my personal favorites, followed closely by the Beatles.

Led Zeppelin, imo, has some of the best musicians of their respectable instrument around during the time. Jimmi Page was, and still is one of if not the best guitar player ever, John Bonham is an absolute monster on the drums, Robert Plant does some amazing things with his voice not replicated by many people, and JPJ just does his thing with some wicked keyboard and bass riffs. I would have to rank Led Zep IV and Physical Graffiti in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Achilles Last Stand is my favorite song of all time also.

Pink Floyd is a different monster. They are absolutely amazing at distorting their music with computer engineering and their albums structure/concepts are incredible. Animals/Wish You Were Here/Meddle/Dark Side of the Moon/Momentary Lapse of Reason/Relics/Atom Heart Mother/Umma Gumma....I could go on but you get the picture. Great stuff all around. Pigs, Echoes, Welcome to The Machine, Shine on you Crazy Diamond are some of my personal favorites.

In the end I don't think I could chose, but if I was forced to I would probably have to say Led Zeppelin. Too hard of a choice though, both are top 5 band all time IMO. Long live Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd!

I couldn't even tell you anything Led Zepplin sings besides Stair Way to Heaven. Overrated one hit wonders. They are decent though.

Come on man... Obviously if you can't name anything besides "Stairway to Heaven" then you don't know enough about them to call them overrated.

Every song they made is worth listening to.

Disagree to an extent on bold. Final Cut is, IMO, their most underrated (not best) album.

Everything from Atom Heart Mother down to Final Cut has it's own fingerprint and has a valuable contribution to the whole PF catalogue.

I have all the Pink Floyd albums after RW left, and though I like them, they're missing teeth in the writing.

I have all the Roger Waters solo albums. Though I like them with their concepts, there's no Gilmore melody.

That's where I agree 100% on your first statement.

I'm out/

I like Final Cut, don't get me wrong, but my favorites are Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, and Animals. I consider Animals to be one of the most under-appreciated albums of all time.
