Great deep pass, even off the back foot from the upcoming hit.

TD makes it 21-17 Wake Forest

Except their rival, the Red Sox, has been the best MLB franchise the past two decades.
True, but the level of dominance and slobbering love the Yankees recieved (and still do) for decades before that has become ingrained into the psyche of baseball fans.

21-20 at halftime.

Weird non-usage of timeouts by Clawson’s before halftime, then the decision to throw a Hail Mary after 3 running plays only to take a knee when there were a few extra seconds left on the clock.

Neither team looks great. MSU use to play defense, you'd think against a WF team that primarily runs the option and rarely passes that they'd get after them on defense. WF looks like the more physical of the two. We'll see how the second half goes...

Alert: MSU just scored!! MSU 27- WF 21

Michigan State’s offense might be adopting the VT strategy of “long, time-consuming drives and their defense on the field as long as we can.” Lessening their opportunities to have the ball is one the best ways to beat these “score quick and deep” style offenses.

TD MSU makes it 27-21 MSU with 10 min left in the 3rd.

Wake’s production from its passing is pretty even with that of its rushing (or maybe even a bit more).
They’re 29th in the country in pass attempts (440 attempts, 270 completions, 3573 yards); they’re 17th in the country in rush attempts though with less overall yardage (545 attempts but only 2108 yards on the year...which is like 47th in the nation).

Wake’s defense is starting to get gassed. They’ve been out there almost the entirety of the 3rd quarter (time of possession is now 25+ min MSU to 17 min WF).

They got lucky: a fingertip incompletion ending up in the hands of one of their LBs to stop that last MSU drive.

(And then the LB almost fumbled it back to MSU by trying to pitch it to his teammate when he was getting stopped on the return! That’s a huge bullet dodged.)

Wake’s pass to a wide open, had two steps on his guy WR is overthrown on 4th and 8.

MSU ball on their own 38 with 14:22 left.

Penalty yards at this point:

MSU: 2 penalties for 20 yards (plus 1 that was declined)

WF: 7 penalties for 65 yards (plus 2 or 3 more that were declined).

TN-native Kenneth Walker has a 9-yard run to start the drive...and then might have gotten hurt (on a late hit that probably should have been called.)

And Wake’s starting QB Newman might be hurt after this drive results in no points.

With 7:47 left in the game, MSU could ice it here if they score, but the penalty on the return pushed them half way back towards their own end zone.

Michigan State milking clock with 3 min left in preparation for a FG or TD to end this one.
