Pitiful . Failed to realize how bad this was. Seems like every game I watch a transfer from UT making a big play.

Bottom Line:

If those that Left here don't want to be here. Then I don't want those SOBs here.

Their Attitude along with Pruitt plays a big part in Team Chemistry. Some not all of these players evidently are not about Team but about themselves.
Some may have received Cash Bonuses which is another reason for them to leave.

We had to get to ground zero and clean this crap out of here and in a way the Portal has enabled us from going to ground zero to a degree and start rebuilding quicker.

Do You want it Right or do you want it Right Now.?

Granted we are 3/4 into the season, but I have seen more team chemistry on the field than I have seen in total of the last 4 coaches......

Most of our transfers were bench warmers. I’d say it hurt us from a quantity standpoint more than quality. There’s no limit to how many you can lose, but there is a limit to how many you can bring in.

We lost more talent than any team in the country. 7 of our 10 highest rated players. To claim we mainly just lost bench warmers is to ignore the facts

UT does need more talented players. That's an undeniable fact. Those guys being gone aren't the reason UT is where it is... and most opponents show the Vols more respect than you do. It has been a "process" to land the roster where it is. Along with the possibility that some of those guys could not come back due to the scandal... I'm not sure you want a guy like Henry T in the locker room right now. These kids are trying to learn how to be a team... he's trying to improve his draft stock.

I would LOVE to have Jahmir Johnson on this roster. Other than that... I'm neutral to no on the rest.
Crouch would be a help as well…..

Nobody got hit harder by a transfer portal exodus than Tennessee. Depending on how one chooses to calculate things, the Vols lost six or seven starters to the portal, and that stat doesn’t really describe the totality of the losses. The Vols lost their top 2020 recruit (Key Lawrence) and their starting QB for much of the last four years (Jarrett Guarantano). They lost two of the SEC’s better running backs (Eric Gray, Ty Chandler), a starting receiver (Brandon Johnson), two starting-caliber offensive tackles (Wanya Morris, Jahmir Johnson), their best pass rusher (Deandre Johnson) and two leading tacklers (Henry To’o To’o, Quavaris Crouch).
If one were to go solely by recruiting rankings, Tennessee lost seven of their 10 most talented players to the transfer portal in one offseason. That listing doesn’t even count the number of their 2021 signees who asked out of their NLIs after the Vols fired Jeremy Pruitt.
And while the Vols did make some gains back via the portal, they don’t come close to replacing what the previous group provided. Tennessee didn’t just get crushed by the portal; the string of exits might legitimately set Josh Heupel’s rebuild back a year or two.
other than Ty Chandler, everyone has struggled.

Tootoot has lowest grading of all Bama Backers. I feel better where we are. Just need to pick up our recruiting.

So realistically this sets us back an additional year IMO. Not a fan of the portal probably because we will be the one if history is a measure to continue searching for a new coach I mean I hope we have found him but you never know I thought that previously as well. Go Braves! Oh wrong forum.

I’d guess that most of those were recipients of happy meals, and not missed in the locker room.

You knows something? We still saved buyout money...hopefully. It is what it is. The coach you lose can either be a future success, or a complete bum. Everytime Tennessee has fired a coach, we lose recruits. And on a few occasions? Everytime something really dumb comes down, we lose one like Jaycee Horn. Does beer taste better with tears in it? I figure you have more experience with that than I do.

And yet, I feel more positive about the future direction of our program than I have since Kiffin's year.

As memory serves, getting the twerp out actually felt good in some small way. Kiffin seemed like a complete A-Hole, and I realized that during his entire short tenure. And when he left, that confirmed it in spades. He is a POS, and always will be. Just waiting for him to screw over Ole Miss. They frickin deserve it.

I find joy each week taunting my OU loving friend about the year Gray is having. Bet he regrets that move! I wouldn't want him back. 8 games, 300 yards and 1 TD against Oklahoma's pathetic schedule...

Don’t disagree. Just sayin I at least felt hopeful during his time here due to the team we fielded and the competitiveness.

Gotta let these guys go. Can’t worry about them. What CJH is doing now and the recognition he and the team are getting will pay off. If we could finish 3-1 in our remaining games and the NCAA mostly leaves us alone considering the steps we’ve taken, it could set this program on fire in a good way and from a recruiting/portal standpoint as well and soon.

The players that left and the players that stayed did so for the same reason. They felt it was in their best interest. Why they felt that way varies, but the bottom line is the same. To those that left, I wish you success. To those that stayed I say give it all you got, be the best player and teammate you can be, and I'll have your back. As for Pruitt, two words, one finger.

Looking at that list-
I would like to have Lawrence on the roster
Gitmo is not missed
Gray would be nice as it allows Smalls to recover
Chandler is not missed
Johnson is solid but a luxury at this point
Morris or Johnson would be nice on the roster
D Johnson was dismissed with a legal issue if memory serves
ToToToo went to Bama so he is dead to me
Crouch would be very welcomed on this roster

But I can’t point to a single one as the difference in the record.
Lawrence 35 tackles 19 solo
Gitmo 33 of 49 248 1td 3int
Gray 64 303 4.7 1td
Chandler 121 671 5.5 9td
B Johnson 27 327 8td
Morris no stats found
J Johnson no stats found
ToToToo don’t care
Crouch 65 tackles 32 solo
D Johnson 8 tackles 1.5 sacks
Bennett, not Johnson was the DE that got arrested.

I would trade all of those guys away just to NOT have JG at QB.

Plus, I assume several were going to get caught up in the NCAA’s McDonalds bag investigation.

This is also what happens when the Admin hires morons like Pruitt and fans blindly follow because they think that’s what makes them “real fans”.

Henry T is still a liability in pass coverage, but I agree with e could use him. Evans is an upgrade vs Gray. Theo Jackson is an all SEC candidate, whereas Lawrence still isn’t starting. We had 4 QBs transfer and still are in much better shape because of Hooker. Payton has been a nice addition to the WR Corp.

Sometimes it’s addition but subtraction. We needed the roster turnover to get rid of “me first” guys.

Why focus on what could have been while ignoring the present contributions from transfers CJH brought in.

All those flavors and you pick 'Woe-is-Me Rocky Road'

I've stated this time and time again. Losing starters and depth to the portal is one thing for the current team, but the staggering number of elite recruits lost hurt for the immediate future. They were replaced by 3-4 year development recruits at several spots.

It makes what Heupel and his staff is doing more impressive.

He meant the people we got were mostly bench warmers, not the guys we lost.

Not sure that I agree we lost all that much from the transfer portal. Yes we lost depth but we got better just about every position.

QB - major upgrade
OL - lost depth and miss Johnson but Morris was awful
WR- Payton is great, Wideman would have been a star, but we also got Jones last year so this is a win
RB - I would take Small and Evans when health over Gray and Chandler. Would have been nice to have one of the against Pitt and Ole Miss though
DL - Terry and Tremblay are much better than anyone that was lost
LB- this one hurts the most given what Pitt and Ole Miss did to us with QB runs. Especially true with injury to Mitchell. Never thought Crouch was that good but he is playing well for Sparty. Him with Banks would be really good.
DB- would take Turnage and Hadden over Lawrence all day long.
ST - McGrath was an upgrade especially if he come back next year.

Overall we did far better than what we are getting credit for, and I think we can add to this list in the off season. Just a lack of depth is what has hurt us. No doubt I would make these “trades” as is plus our new coaching staff is a vast improvement.
