Plavsic denied by NCAA

It's time to alter the transfer rules. Every kid gets one free transfer with immediate eligibility, no questions asked. If there is not going to be a clear set of standards to abide by and with an increasingly large number of transfers each year, I don't think it's fair to keep punishing the student athlete. Any transfer after the first requires the player to sit for a year. As some have stated, it might keep coaches honest in recruiting. No more snake oil salesmen trying to con impressionable young student athletes.

It's a slippery slope but something needs to happen. The NCAA is completely inept

I think I am for a rule that states if going through the portal by a specific date, eligibility is granted UNLESS it is opposed for cause by the school they are leaving and must be initially declared ineligible within in X days of entrance into the portal. May require the school losing the kid to commit the scholly for the season the student is required to sit out. Or something like that....

This is far to logical and easy to understand for the NCAA to ever adopt it. It also completely removes their power to make late, random decisions, which is the only real purpose of the NCAA.

I hear you but it would cut back the NCAA having to deal with hundreds of transfers, yet provide protection for any school who thinks they were wronged by tampering or whatever... maybe add that a kid must complete any year started at the schools request.

Barnes apparently made some comments recently about this matter and said something like maybe a week or so we may know something. Anyone have any good info about Plavsic possibly being cleared to play this year? We sure could use him.

Apparently we should get Tom Mars on the case.

Anyone know why Barnes was insinuating that Plavsic could save a year of eligibility by not playing this year?

“If it gets beyond that,” Barnes said of the week-and-a-half timeframe, “it probably won’t be worth playing him in terms of him losing a year. That would be left up to him, but we don’t know anything.”

Apparently they’re going to apply for a 6th year, also seems like a long shot but I suppose why not try?

Got it. I'm guessing if the NCAA decides he should have been eligible this season but it's late in the season, they might have some sort of case. I don't think they will get a 6th year if the NCAA decides he isn't eligible this season.
