Tennessee play calling tonight was horrible. Joe and the receivers were off early, yet we kept passing vs utilizing 3 amazing running backs and a pretty decent O line. The incomplete passes also thwarted just about any and all momentum down the field - as it stopped the clock and allowed (who did we play again?) to rest and set their defensive alignments.

The other team was spot on with their play calling. It is if they studied our defense and knew what plays to call against us. Imagine that?

Tennessee Play Calling F+
Other Team Play Calling A-

Yes our execution was off but, make adjustments and not later, but immediately. Very, very hard game to watch and cannot put all the blame on the players.

It seemed to me that he gets complacent because the run game is working some. Seems like he just keeps running 1 or 2 many times in a row.

I’m not real sure about this - I have a pretty good feeling they wanted to run as little of the offense they’ve been working on since January as possible. This game was never in doubt and I don’t think they felt any need to do other than what they did. Just my .02

No, they will just disagree with you. the LOTM just think that the coach never knew how to call plays in the first place. It was just a fluke last year and he really isn't good. I on the other hand feel that you are more right than not.

It looked like they had a lot of the 2 deep in the game on both sides of the ball in the second half too. It wasn't pretty but I'll take the W.

Let's be real. the OL wasn't giving him a ton of time to let those downfield routes develop. Milton wasn't accurate and at times, the WR's dropped balls and Keyton fumbled. What magical play call do you suggest?

After UVA, I was feeling like we were not going to miss a beat.

After AP, I'm feeling like it’s the complete opposite.

Hopefully, it’s somewhere in between these two or an overreaction. But tonight, the play calling was abysmal and the execution even worse.

Protection was iffy. Milton was off. Receivers were dropping balls and Keyton fumbled one. Running the ball and those sideline balls were the only things working. What would you expect a play caller to do?

Would have been nice to take at least one deep shot per quarter

Heupel has said he adapts the playcalling to the players. Unfortunately we can't complete anything downfield with any sort of confidence. Hendon had a killer instinct when the pressure was on. I have yet to see that from Joe other than the Clemson game where he had a month to prepare. You don't have that luxury every game.

I'll be really concerned about the rest of our season if our O-Line wasn't able to hold back Austin Peay. If they can't give him time against them, SEC teams are going to beat the snap to the backfield.

So idiotic. Nobody has said he can't call plays anymore, he just called ONE bad game. Go to bed homie you're taking this too hard.

You must not be reading the posts. I ain't taking it hard, I just think some on here are fickle to the Nth degree. The only way to make me stop calling the LOTM what they are is to ignore me.
