Playing calling in 2nd half was terrible. Too many runs for Hurd with nothing happening and deep throws. We haven't completed a deep pass yet so not sure why those plays are being called. OC abandoned the short passing game in 2nd half.

The only thing I can think of is Bajakian took this as a chance to fine-tune the 2 poor aspects of our Offense:

* Deep Pass

* Between Tackles running

The score hasn't changed, it's still a win.

The problem isn't the playcalling. It's the execution. Worley was air-mailing deep passes last week and is underthrowing them this week.

OL can't get a push and open any lanes for a RB even against a Nickel front.

I didn't really have a problem with the playcalling... more so the execution is depressingly bad.

I hope it's just to keep our playbook and tendencies relatively unknown until we face the tougher opponents on our schedule.

Totally agree..... It's almost like they closed the playbook 2nd half. I guess they were working the Oline trying to run the ball.

I'm not a fan of the Bajakian scheme full stop. I think the scheme and his situational play calling is questionable. Our O-line is struggling to sustain blocks and we hand the ball to our RB five yards behind the line every single time. We are never running downhill from the snap of the football. (I don't know what I'd think if I saw us line up in the I-formation)

Bajakian has got to find some rhythm in the ground attack. The O-line is a big work in progress, but it looks like Hurd is now the starter. This offense doesn't work to his strengths. He's got to make adjustments, and hopefully they have been saving some looks for OK.

I just want us to be competitive the next couple of weeks. Let's stay healthy (hope Von and Ethan are okay) and let's get some more consistency to our offense by Florida week, especially the running game.

Damn boys. Have you ever heard of holding some of the playbook back? We have a major team that we are playing next week. You do not show all your cards before the bets. Anyone that criticizes Worley after this game don't know much about football. I tried to tell everyone that this game was gonna be tougher than expected and I got ridiculed. I guess a 15 point victory was not what some were expecting and their in panic mode. I envision a lot of wrinkles next week such as more screens, reverses, etc. I hope Worley plays as well as he did this week next week.

I swear some people on here think playcalling works just like it does in Madden. That if the play doesn't work, it's simply because the coordinator called the wrong play.

If we're trying to improve our run game and deep-throw game, I'd rather practice against someone else (when the game is firmly in hand) than my own team if only to prevent self-inflicted injuries on my defense.

The injury to Pearson and Wolf are my major concerns right now. We need them both for next week.

How are we going to move the ball against Oklahoma with plays we have never executed? The fake handoff is funny actually. We do it 50 times a game and our rb gets it 20% of the time, qb 1% and by the time the play develops our receivers are out of worleys range and our sideline outs are covered... All 3 receivers..

Exactly. No jet sweeps. No bubble screens. We took some deep shots to hone that part of that offense. Nothing wrong w Hurd for 4yds 20 times. We looked uninspired from a short week. At least they get to party on the strip tonight!

I was thinking the same thing, we already know how to pass. It was also an opportunity to get Jalen some much needed experience.

Agree with you on all your points. Only thing that makes sense regarding the change in play calling.

We saw these same calls all last year. We're not closing the playbook, this is our playbook.

This. There's no magic plays that the coaches are waiting to unleash on our SEC opponents. However, the selection of those plays seem a bit disjointed at times. It looked like we were trying to press our play calling to work on our weak points offensively.

I don't know why the OC was throwing deep--but I don't want to see deep passes next week. They are low percentage to begin with--even with very talented QB and receivers--and in addition Worley does not throw the deep ball well. I'm sure the OC was working on some things. Our strength is going to be Worley spreading the ball around to our receivers, getting pig in space. North and Croom are big guys--use them in the possession passing game as well. Next week will tell us what this team is all about.

I'll be happy if get them both back by Florida.
