Rather than repeat what amounts to every player and every unit, here are my questions of interest.
We've not seen freshman RBs make a strong showing in this system early in the season. I'm curious to see if Peyton Lewis breaks that pattern.
Secondary coverage responsibilities are so complex and fluid within each play, so I'm curious to see if Boo Carter can master the mental part of the Star position with enough confidence that his speed can be fully realized. Hesitancy about assignment effectively negates whatever speed advantages he brings.
And if Boo does get on the field, I'm concerned about how much SEC-level punishment his small, slight frame can take--and deal out!
On the D-line, I'm eager to see what kind of push our D tackles can bring up the middle to disrupt timing patterns and force QBs out of the pocket to where they're more vulnerable to our edge rushers.
For Pearce Jr., I'd love to see him show improvement in stopping the run, just so he can secure extra-high draft value for himself.
And for nostalgia's sake, for tradition, for Majors and Cafego and Neyland... I'd like to see us, backed up in a rainstorm, sneak Jeremias Heard into the lineup as a blocking tight end, shift him into the backfield as a blocking fullback, then direct snap to him for a quick kick on 3rd down to flip the field. Gotta indulge a few fantasies in pre season!
