What if Milton does not show any improvement on his accuracy during the Orange Bowl.
He has had a few years to get better touch and if it’s still not there is he still the answer next year?
I hope he is spot on, but if not I can’t say that I think he will find the touch by next season.
Am I the only one really worried about this?

It's a football game that they/we want to win What more do you have to see to evaluate him? He will either hit a wide open receiver or he won't. Seems pretty simple to me.I have a huge problem with using a bowl game, a month removed from the regular season and without a complete team, as any kind of gauge as to what kind of QB Milton will be moving forward.
Let him have a full off season as QB1 and go through spring ball before beginning to make final judgments. Trust that Heupel, who took another inconsistent QB in Hooker and made him into a Heisman candidate, will either be able to turn Milton into a QB that will win in the SEC or find another answer. Either way, the time for concern is a ways off.
Milton placed his back foot on his own 30 yard line. He flicked his wrist and hit his receiver on the opponent's FIVE yard line. He has done that a few times. So, I am not worried about him having "touch" for the intermediate throws. He has the "torch" for the impossibly long - never seen before on a consistent basis in CFB - throws. If we can't hit the 15 yard out, then hit the 75 yard go pattern. Simple.
Everybody is thinking about the Milton situation wrong. Milton may not be Hooker but he is a QB with some experience. If not for him we wouldn't have anybody with any or limited in game experience. One advantage Joe doesn't create turnovers and that is huge. We will probably win more games with Milton in there until Nico get some experience than throwing him straight into the fire.
You obviously don't read a lot of my posts...and probably for good reason, but I'm with you on this one. I see this as being a bit of a catch 22. We can't very well pull the rug from under Milton right before the bowl game. We also have a 5 star who's probably thinking the job is there for the taking if his competition is Milton. Not even mentioning the thought process of Jackson if we did bring in a 1 year rental at the QB position. We bring in another QB and we all but guarantee Jackson and maybe Milton leaves. Jackson might be gone regardless if Nico shows out in bowl prep. Very fine line Heupel has. One would have to think he really, really wants Milton to play lights out vs Clemson and that he's the man next year or until Nico beats him out. Barring a disastrous performance by Milton, I think he'd prefer to stand pat at the position. Might still do that even if Milton plays poorly if he feels like he's got the answer on the roster in the form of TJ or Nico. Gonna be really interesting to see how it plays out. What if Milton does not show any improvement on his accuracy during the Orange Bowl.

So you're going to draw a final conclusion on one damn game, a month removed from the season, without a full roster? If Milton overthrows a few deep balls, that's it, on to Plan B?
Really glad we have cooler heads making those calls.
I can foresee for next year something like 1994. Heath Shuler had a Heisman worthy season in 1993, but with a few key losses, it went from a very promising year to a disappointing one, even though by most reasonable measurements, it was a successful year. Fulmer was reluctant to play Manning early in the 94 season, even though it was clear he was our best quarterback (Brandon Stewart would flash at times). We took some lumps through the year, but by the end of the year we were rolling and put into motion a new era in TN football.

You play who has the hot hand and can win. That is that objective of every game.So you're going to draw a final conclusion on one damn game, a month removed from the season, without a full roster? If Milton overthrows a few deep balls, that's it, on to Plan B?
