I did drive, gas is not cheap, hotels were brutal, tickets had to be bought before prices went down or risk not getting one. Spent close to 2k on the trip without airfare. You could have driven, gotten a cheapish motel, and gotten tickets for like 100 apiece. No reason why a couple in the Knoxville area couldn’t have gone for 800 bucks.
I really hope to see a day where we are able to complain about the costs associated with playing for a natty and the travel costs. Until then I'm not seeing anything for UT fans to complain about other than one road trip to OSU.Think of the cost for UT fans. First going to Columbus, then to the Rose Bowl, then to the Cotton bowl, and then the title game. That would have been 20k easy for a couple.
Think when stadiums are emptier than what the CFP wants, they will do more home games?
They will NEVER be empty for CFP games, I can promise you.Think of the cost for UT fans. First going to Columbus, then to the Rose Bowl, then to the Cotton bowl, and then the title game. That would have been 20k easy for a couple.

I spent about $1500 for Columbus but we drove from Nashville. How much did you spend going to columbus?
Airfare, hotel, meals, tickets, expenses while there before and after game....
Can you imagine the cost of going to all 4?I spent about $1500 for Columbus but we drove from Nashville.
I would’ve sold my Rose Bowl tickets with flights being over $700 per ticket.
$375 holiday inn- two nights in Columbus. Their hotel prices were much lower than Knoxville on game days.
A pair of nice Lower level Tickets 10 yard line- purchased 48 hours prior to game for around $450 we had Lower level.
I don’t think we will make it to the title game anytime soon. If we do, I will be there if alive and well. And yes, I stand and yell!
Don't go as a couple. My wife could give 2 ***** about football. Go with a buddy that actually cares and split it. And 20k is outrageous where you staying at the damn penthouse at the Hilton?Think of the cost for UT fans. I was watching the Hilton in downtown Knoxville. Was $1600 a night on Saturday before the seeding was announced, it was $128 per night less than 24 hours later.I spent about $1500 for Columbus but we drove from Nashville.

Yeah, price gauging is horrible in Knoxville and I refuse to stay at a roach motel.I was watching the Hilton in downtown Knoxville. Was $1600 a night on Saturday before the seeding was announced, it was $128 per night less than 24 hours later.
I agree Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl would be more expensive. But I just feel like it could be done for a lot less than 20k.I did drive, gas is not cheap, hotels were brutal, tickets had to be bought before prices went down or risk not getting one. Spent close to 2k on the trip without airfare.
Rose Bowl is much more expensive area, much more expensive tickets, same with the cotton bowl.
Nothing about the title game would be cheap. Right now on the gametime app, the cheapest title game ticket is $1677 each.
Gas, food, hotel, tix, a few misc expenses. I didnt spend that much on the Columbus trip, but add airfare to rose Bowl, hotel in Cali, tix to Rose Bowl, the repeat for Cotton Bowl, then drive to Atlanta for title game...Don't go as a couple. You could easily get there but only if you wanted to spend outrageous amounts on hotels. Those flights would be like 2500 bucks total. Say you add 4K for championship game tickets. There’s a lot of room to go before you hit 20k there. In the right car, you can get to Atlanta and back for 50 bucks from Knoxville. You could do it for closer to half of what you’re saying than 20k.Gas, food, hotel, tix, a few misc expenses. Right now on gametime app, title game tix for the very last row are $1677 each. Flights to rose Bowl were $700 each. Flights to Cotton bowl were $575 each. I did look at hotels but based off what they are in Knoxville....
Easily get to 20k if you went to all 4 games
Maybe....I am not sure what Cotton bowl or Rose Bowl tix would have been. Hotel in cali and Arlington for 3 or 4 days would have been brutalYou could easily get there but only if you wanted to spend outrageous amounts on hotels. Well you don’t have to do 3 or 4 days. I mean if you want to go see the city you’re in and explore the area while staying in a very nice hotel for 4 days, I can see how you can get to 20 grand. But if you just wanna take one person with you to see the games, you could do it for probably 7 grand or so.Maybe....I am not sure what Cotton bowl or Rose Bowl tix would have been.
