UT got jumped by BYU which is ranked 27th in FPI/22nd in sp+. I watched the BYU/refs vs Utah game. The selection committee obviously did not. Also Indiana jumped UT without any wins over anyone in the upper half of the B1G.
Maybe because they have not been beaten yet......might be a good start

Penn State also only had a 3 point lead over Bowling Green with less than 5 minutes left in the game. But I guess everyone just glosses over that one?
We got beat by Arkansas and had to beat UF in overtime. Went 3 games without scoring in the 1st half. Was losing to UK at halftime.

Arkansas was a tough trap game on the road, UF was likely beating uga before lagway was injured, we beat Kentucky by 10 anyways (that same Kentucky team beat ole miss and nearly got georgia) and we beat bama despite not scoring in the first half. We're not perfect but the games we've played are a helluva lot harder than what BYU or Indiana have faced.

Pretty much guarantees IU a spot even if they get shat kicked out of them by OSU and guarantees PSU a spot even if they lose to MN....

I think if either loses they will more than likely face a precipitous drop unless it's an IU close loss to Ohio State.

But how does that mean we are screwed?
The committee set the stage by having UGA as first team out. They ranked them lower than AP or coaches to ensure that if we lose to Georgia we don’t get in. Also did this by having us jumped again. This is all intentional right now to position us out if we lose. They’ve already decided our fate if we don’t win this weekend.

Without a win against Georgia we are probably getting left out of the playoffs. That typical, at least once a year no-show against an inferior opponent (this season, it was Arkansas) ensured that we will not get the benefit of the doubt in any situation. THAT, along with Oklahoma being so bad and NC State falling well short of expectations, is setting us up for being on the outside looking in. Hate to say it, but having at least one massive choke job every season produces this kind of crap.

Exactly. I was trying to figure out why we were jumped by Indiana and BYU even though we won more handily than either of them did this past weekend. Then I realized it’s because when the playoff committee ranked us at 7 they didn’t expect Georgia and Miami to lose this past weekend. And they planned to drop us out if we lose to Georgia. They didn’t want to move us up to 5 because it would be harder to justify dropping us out from there.
