Yeah, it's his money and he can do with it as he sees fit altbough the logic behind it seems sketchy....

And people can cancel Netflix if they want. Its their time and money although the logic is sketchy...

Did he contribute under his own name or was it a Netflix contribution?

His money.

Donation was to a Super PAC.

He is the chairman of Netflix.

If people want to show their displeasure with how he uses his own money by cancelling their Netflix subscriptions, then that’s fine. It don’t bother me none how these fellers spend their money or not.

Who cares? It's not your money and not your precious tax dollars. You just going to boycott anyone and everyone that disagrees with you politically? Seek help.
That's where the logic falls apart. If we all stopped doing business with companies, that had executives donating to political candidates we didn't like, then none of us would be buying anything. Country is pretty 50/50. You just know about this one

It bothers me because I've got several thousand dollars of Netflix stock.

People can spend and not spend money however they please. But if somebody is unsubscribing a service they otherwise wouldn’t because of how somebody contributing politically, I think that is silly. But, you do you.

I worked for many years in media. The companies buying ads that paid my salary included many businesses that I don’t support. If you drill down into those things, almost everybody is a sellout of some sort.

I’m a vegetarian, but I also own shares of McDonald’s, Kroger, short Chipotle put options (which means I might could end up owning CMG shares), and probably every fund that I own also holds shares in various companies that sell dead critters for food. I’m burdened with what has been.

Accusations? Didn't you accuse me of having an opinion I didn't even express?
Did you accuse me of raging, being angry? I apologize if I took your post the wrong way.

Here's the deal. People choose who to do business with or not do business with all the time. When folks don't agree with their reasoning and are calling their reason stupid makes them just as silly as those doing the canceling.

Let's say you had a hangout, a bar that you loved patronizing. They had great mixologist, great bar food. The people that hung out there were you're kind of people. One night you're enjoying drinks and fun and a couple of drag queens come in. The owner emerges tells them they have to leave that they don't serve those types of people. Something tells me you'd not do business there anymore.

Point is, people do or not do business with companies/people for various ideological reasons that are important to them. Some would consider your boycott of that business as silly because they don't share your views.

I'm not directing this at you but anyone thinking someone not doing business with a company or individual over ideological reasons is not silly.

I don't have a Netflix sub. Not because I'm boycotting, I just have no interest in their content. I hope they do well though as I have a monetary interest in them doing so. Their trajectory has been pretty good but like many stocks have floundered in recent weeks.

Even if I don't plan to boycott Netflix, I still applaud people that do. Cool to see people stand up for values over entertainment. We need more of it in our nation. I am curious to know if Netflix has given any money to Trump's campaign or not.

So they stopped you from abusing the agreement and also raised prices a few times in 15 years? Sounds like pretty normal business stuff. You think they're boning you?

Lol. The agreement they flip flopped on? The one they previously used to promote memberships? I can’t remember the last time I watched something and I’ve kept it for years “just in case” and decided now was a good time to part ways. At&T is raising my already absurd rates next month. Been with them since the Cingular days but will be keeping an eye for something else.

I had been on the fence but after seeing this crap yesterday I went ahead and canceled. It was easier due to hardly ever watching it to begin with and it left a sour taste after they decided to crack down on password sharing with family after they had previously used it as some sort of promotion. The constant price increases were also getting old. I had been a member since 2010. When it asked why you wanted to cancel and gave you a list to choose from of course I picked “other” but can’t post here what I wrote in as the reason.
Enjoy your blank screen.
