Please fire Cuonzo now

End of last year most places projected him end of 1st round pick, now he's projected most everywhere as a 2nd rounder.

I doubt when he and McRae really started evaluating where they would realistically be drafted that he was going to be a 1st rounder.

I just believe he would have went if he had been certain he was a 1st rounder. jmo

The grade he got was 2nd round, which is the same grade he'll get this year. 2nd round isn't a guaranteed contract anyways iirc, so really there's no promise of anything.

Stokes has every right to be disappointed as we all are. A dominant year was expected by most of us considering all of the talent that was readily available to Martin. It truly gets more frustrating every time I think about it.

There's not much difference between getting drafted late 2nd round, and not getting drafted at all.

He has improved his stock a ton this year IMO. There was no way he was getting drafted last year. He has improved enough that I think a team may fall in love with his abilities and take a chance in the early 2nd round on him. His free throw shooting has helped a lot IMO.

depends on the fit. If he fits in well and fills a team need, he'll have a more lucrative contract. In that case, he'll be rewarded better than not getting drafted.

There's undrafted free agents that get bigger deals than drafted 2nd rounders, that was my point. If he does go 2nd round he didn't guarantee himself anymore money than he would've gotten last year.

Last year he was going to end up in another country. He has a shot to get an NBA deal now or make more money overseas because his stock has improved.

If last years draft class was this year that would be great for him, but bad timing. I agree he's improved his game, but his projected draft stock is still mid-late 2nd round. At that point there's not much financial difference between being drafted or unstaffed.

In fact being a free agent sometimes allows guys to get more, as they may end up with multiple teams interested. Being drafted 2nd round you're rights are owned by that team and you are negotiating financially with just that team.

You know that how? He was told he'd get drafted in the 2nd round, the same thing he'll be told this year. He came back in hopes of a 1st round pick and guaranteed contract.

I think Stokes will leave this year, but do you think his stock would increase if he played another year?

His game is approved since last year. Made himself money by coming back.

Only if he played for a more up tempo style coach.(who didn't sit him for 10 minutes in the 2nd half, when he gets his 3rd foul)

But... wither way he gone. IMO

He wasn't getting drafted last year IMO. I don't care what he says he was told. 2nd round picks go to overseas players more often than projected.

And he may not get drafted 2nd round this year either. The most recent update from draft express who's the best in the biz has him going 19th in round 2. He started the year at the back end of the 1st round, so he's steadily slid down their boards.

And as you said above, 2nd round picks go to foreign players lots of times, so no promise he will even be drafted this year.

Which leads me right back to my original point, I don't see how he definitely made himself money by returning.

You can tell in Stokes tone of voice he is done with Cuonzo. So if CCM is still here I think there is a 0% chance he comes back.

incorrect. He, his family, and his hs coach were told the chances of him getting drafted last year were @ 0%.

Oh, well I haven't spoke to his family so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one. The interviews Jarnell did last year after he got his grade he said they told him 2nd round, that's what I was going on.

Still doesn't change what the rest of my post said though. If he goes undrafted this year, or even is a late 2nd round pick, there's no guarantee he made himself more money. Say he gets an extra 30k, he also lost 1 year that he could've been playing for 400k. Doesn't add up to me. If he went from undrafted to 1st round, then yea he made himself money, but from I drafted to late 2nd-unstaffed, I don't see that as making money.
