Seriously BTO? I know you love to play devils advocate, but anyone can understand the difference here. Pearl has been here, succeeded, he loves Knoxville, is not intimidated or turned off by all the attention Lady Vols receive (he even embraces the fact the court is named after Pat Summitt). Versus, another coach ( Howland ?) that knows nothing about Knoxville, our fans, probably has never even met Pat Summitt and couldn't care less about the Lady Vols. Could he succeed her, sure he could but who's to say he gets here and after a year or 2 realizes it's not a " good fit" for him or his family ( ala Lane Kiffin) and then leaves to go to the NBA? Take the sure thing- Pearl or gamble on someone else.

And who's to say in 2 years when Pastner leaves Memphis that Pearl doesn't take that job, he was lobbying for it last time.

For some reason you have this image of Pearl as a choir boy that loves Tennessee so much he'll give Hart a 75% off coupon to hire him. The hire also comes with a guarantee that no matter what he will remain the Tennessee coach for as long as Hart wants. People quickly forget how often Pearls agent shopped his name around when he was here.

Of course his " agent" shopped him. He was looking for more money, like all agents do. He was just doing his job. Pearl wasn't going anywhere.

Howland had a recruit dinner and paid for two players...Dollar and O'bannon. He then tried to cover it by using a assistant and his wife on the expense report but the assistant would not go along. Howland was given quit now or be fired options. He chose firing.

That's a death penalty here. He lied, and tried to cover it up. By doing what 200 other coaches do, and what people do all the time on their own expense reports.

His son said he was VERY close to leaving for Memphis, like had told the family and that's where they thought they were going. For someone who "loves" Tennessee so much, how do you leave to go to one of their rivals?

Every coach likes to be "wanted". It's part of their ego. But in the end, Pearl knew he wasn't going to Memphis. He may have wanted to go in part because his boss, Hamilton, was not the ideal boss. I think Hart and Pearl would be very compatible.

One issue, Cheek is still here, and Steven will tell you flat out that's a big reason he's not all that interested in returning.

Wait you sure that wasn't Jim Harrick? It seems that Cameron Dollar and the O'Bannon brothers played on that National Championship team for UCLA in 90s.

I'd absolutely love to have Bruce back, but either way Zo clearly isn't the right guy for UT basketball. We need someone that can come in and generate a buzz around the basketball program like Bruce did. Or like Butch has done so far with football. Zo is the complete opposite of them. He almost puts me to sleep listening to him and he shows little emotion during the game other than looking confused.

Zo's tenure kinda reminds me and seems to be playing out like Dooley's. We all began to question if DD was the right guy after his second season (especially after losing to uk smh). Same with Zo after year 2 of missing the tourney and losing in first round of NIT. We then began to get excited going into year 3 under DD with all the talent we had (at least on offense and most thought our D would be at least avg). As that season played out we could clearly see DD wasn't the guy after numerous in-game coaching blunders and a team that quit. We're seeing the same thing with Zo...his confused look and questionable coaching. The only thing left for me to see is if this team quits like DD's did down the stretch.

I don't think they will, unless they don't make the tourney again and end up in the NIT, but whether they do or not is irrelevant to me at this point. I've already seen enough (or actually not enough lol). Zo is the basketball version of Dooley. This is the best and most athletic team we've had in a while and should be a shoe-in for the tourney. Just like DD's third year we should've easily at least made a bowl game at 6-6.

Get me someone that's a proven coach and someone that'll generate the buzz around UT basketball that's been missing since Bruce left. There is absolutely no reason UT basketball can't be a top 10-15 program every year. We've got everything a coach needs to succeed. Bruce proved it can be done, taking us all the way to a #1 ranking and just barely missing the final 4.

Again, I'd take Bruce back in a heartbeat. He loves UT and he's dang sure a proven coach. I just hope politics or whatever else behind the scenes doesn't get in the way if Bruce wants the job. Whoever hires him will be getting a steal so I hope they can put all the BS aside and bring him back. I'd hate to see him coaching at bama or anywhere else in the sec next year (dont even wanna think about him at bama uggh).

I think we've finally got the right guy leading the football program. I think Serrano is the right guy for baseball and think he's about to put UT back on the map in a big way soon. All we're missing is the right guy for basketball. We already know Bruce can be that guy. We'd know exactly what kind of coach we'd have from day one. There would be no guessing if he could get it done or how many years he should get to do it. It's a no-brainer for me if I'm Hart.

Even if we barely make the tourney this year (and maybe even win a game or two somehow), it's clear to me, Zo's gotta go. Just my two cents.

What I don't get is when there were 4 of Mizzou's players with 4 fouls at the 9 minute mark we stopped trying to drive it to the hoop and get them fouled out? We could have easily kept driving and either getting easy layups because they're afraid to foul out or make them foul out and rely on their bench? Instead we almost instantly started trying to shoot solely from the perimeter. I mean Stokes didn't get the ball passed to him in the pant once in like the last 11 minutes or something if I'm not mistaken? How does Cuonzo not once mention trying to get those guys in foul trouble out? And then of course there was the debacle at the end of the game... I am 100% ProBruce at this point which sucks cause I truly wanted Zo to be good but he's gotta go. Complete waste of an extremely talented team.
