No one said he would've won the pole under normal conditions... but he was in the top 15 in practice and going that late might've been enough to to put him around 10th or so. He said himself that he probably would've only qualified 10th to 15th. He caught a break with the weather cooling the track down... just like the 8 or 9 guys who qualified after him.It wasn't all due to the rain he was .500 seconds off the pace in the early going.. the few drivers before him had to deal with it and manage.. his car wasn't top 10 material.

lol:And we all will continue to hate on Junior - since over 1/2 of the NASCAR fanbase loves him for the sole reason of who his dad was. Right now Junior is like the bandwagon team of USC in CFB but about 10x worse.
I respect Junior and all but he is going to be the most popular driver never to win a championship.
Clearly you don't watch much of NASCAR. TEI hasn't had good cars consistently at Daytona and Talladega since 2004. I guess they used the same restrictor plate setup for his 3 wins at Richmond his 2 wins at Phoenix, right?
Bubble driver? Was he a bubble driver in 2004 when he won 6 races and led the points for much of the season? Or in 2003 when he was in the top 3 in points for the entire season? Maybe even in 2006 when he made the Chase comfortably? Yeah, I'm the one wearing the goggles.
Like I said, the only people that have the ridiculously high expectations are the fools that know nothing about racing (yes, many Jr. fans. I can't stand the majority of them.) and expect a guy to come in and just win all the time. It doesn't work that way.
Little confused... you say he's not a top 10 driver, but then claim his fans to be on the bandwagon. What bandwagon? Wouldn't a driver have to be successful to have a bandwagon? Great job contradicting yourself... but, please continue with how it's Jr.'s fans that you don't like.
Mr. and Mrs. Tidwell your teaming up on me is rather pathetic but anyway.. people can and DO have bandwagon fans whether or not they are dominating... like I said.. Juniors bandwagon fans come from his dad...
You guys make him out to be a legend... he hasn't won a championship and arguably never will... facts are facts. The amount of races he has one in a 2 year period pales in comparison to most of the elite drivers. He did have a great start to his career but has slipped up some what recently. Facts are facts but there's no point in arguing with extreme Junior homers.. it's like trying to tell me Tennessee is a pathetic football program.. it won't register - but seriously whatever makes you happy keep living in the fantasy world where Junior rules all.
Oooh - that was good.. wasn't it? Some people just need to let it go and get a life... :horse:
By the way, I'm done with this. We could go back and forth forever, but we'll never change each other's minds. Quite frankly, I'm sick of defending Junior against people who obviously just love to bash him because it's the 'cool' thing to do. I don't know why I bother, I know how I feel and I know that nobody will change that... so what you or anyone else thinks doesn't matter in the least.
I didn't mock you - I just happened to use the same point you did and I feel its stupid to be a Junior fan with the masses just like you feel it's stupid to bash Junior. I also never said or made him out to be a talentless bum - I said he's not an elite driver.
I just think it is ridiculous when 2/3rds of the grandstand at whatever race is filled with Budweiser shirts on Sunday.
And it's not the "cool" thing to do - the "cool" thing to do is obviously forget whatever driver you previously pulled for and put on a #8 hat. Maybe ducktape a #8 on your Chevy pickup when you're on the way to the race track while drinking a Bud and shout "JUNIOR ROCKS!" proceeded by tons of screaming from everything other car stuck in traffic in the area.. (yes - I have experienced this many times on race day)
Anyway - you're right no point in arguing about it when we all have drastic views on the situation that aren't going to change.
