I mean, you could wear it when not required. I know, I know, its a crazy idea.

You show me a test of the new spikes in confirmed cases that breaks it down into symptomatic, asymptomatic, and antibodies showing up but nothing else and this study shows over 50 percent are symptomatic and borderline dying then I will consider the mask full time.

Until then it's just fear mongering to me and I would rather die free than live in fear and sucking down my own stupid carbon in 90 degree weather.

WHOA. How did you get into FLVOL_79's closet, and when are you coming out?

Covid-19: Should you be jogging or running with a mask on? Find out here

In general, any cardiovascular activity increases one’s breathing which results in the person panting and then even breathing from the mouth. With the mask covering one’s mouth, the flow of air through the nose is constricted and even the breathing from the mouth is difficult, which might result in trouble for some.

Dr Ravi Shekhar Jha, senior consultant and head of the department, pulmonology, Fortis Escorts Faridabad explained how it happens. “A tight fitting mask like N95 adds inspiratory resistance which increases the work of breathing. A mask which is not valved, changes the blood gas equation, and it leads to a special phenomena called PEEP (Positive End-Expiratory Pressure). This PEEP may lead to pneumothorax (punctured lungs), especially when there is too much strain on lungs, like when we are running, or doing strenuous exercise,” he said.
One way to become hypercapnic quickly is exercising with a mask on.

In principle, I agree, the government should not mandate stuff like this but this manifestation of government overreach is one of the least of my concerns. Focusing on stuff like this contributes to us (people that profess to care about small government) losing more important battles. We just look so stupid throwing tantrums over inconsequential things that others see as good policy.
Kinda like it's almost a intentional distraction huh.

I love the folks saying I don't wear one because I am not scared of catching it. You wear one not to protect yourself so much as to protect others, but way to be selfish and not think of others.

I don’t wear one just to keep other people out of my personal space , the Karen’s and the hey dudes won’t be in my face that way . It’s better for everybody .

If it doesn't stop the virus from getting in the mask, how does it stop it from getting out?

Because the droplets going out are larger and prevented from spreading. The "incoming" droplets in the air are much smaller and surgical masks stop about 50% of them.

At my full-time job. No. We have offices if we feel we need to space ourselves. Some opt to, but they also have cronic sinuses, etc.

At my part time bowling alley job. No. We have two plexi glass barriers. I wore a mask for one shift when we opened back up. Have not since. The grille employees are required.

Out in public. No. Wife has and still does. I do not, but I keep one in car just in case. I don't plan on being an a** about it if I'm required to in certain places.

Haircut, Yes. Sports clips requires employees and customers to mask up. My stylist of choice is a great person, and well, she's hot. I really don't mind accommodating.

I'm resilient, and have been out and about from day one. At some point in my life I probably will catch it, just like any other cold or flu, which I very, very rarely catch. So, chances are I will be pretty immune and naturally antibodied anyway cause I don't hide my immune system under a rock. I don't buy into all the recorded cases to begin with. I think they are false positives, or wrongfully coded for political clout. As a moderate conservative, I used to think conspiracy theorists were a little fruity. I'm slowly changing my mind.

I do however, now wash my hands pretty regular at the bowling alley now and use hand sanitizer there only. Something I rarely did. I have opinions from my upbringing about over sanitizing.

I don't wear them, but I'm in my late forties, no underlying conditions and healthy.

One bizzare thing I saw the other day- I'm sitting in a local pizza joint and I see a couple pull up outside wearing a mask in their car, which of course makes no sense.

They get out of the car and very much look like people that need a mask, I'm guessing mid-80s and they appear quite frail.

They walk a long way across the parking lot which is quite large as it's part of a shopping center.

I assume they must be coming in to grab some takeout, but they walk in and plop down at a table near other families and take their masks off.

What sense does that make? You wear your mask alone in your car and in a large parking lot then pull it off in a crowded restaurant?

I'm not a conspiracy nut and don't belittle anyone that wants to wear a mask but what some people are doing is nonsense.
I'm telling you, this is some people's way of virtue signaling.

There could be several factors at play as to why someone doesn't wear a mask. Not worried about catching it is one of them but very likely not the only reason.
I would say that is the reason why 90% of people don't wear a mask. 90% maybe be an understatement.
