UT's football future has a lot riding on this incoming class and while we are ranked #5 right now on ESPN (yes, they hate us), where will we wind up?

Some teams may jump us on NSD but im very happy with this recruiting class regardless of where we finish.

I think 10 or 11 due to the craziness of signing day.

I still say we have some silent defects n usually the backups r not as highly rated..

If not I will be happy happy happy...

To be consensus top 5 (including #2 on Scout) with less than a week to go before signing day is a great accomplishment IMO.

If we are consensus top 10 after Feb 5 (AND we manage to hold onto Hendrix), I'll take that all day long and twice on Sunday.

To put it in perspective, look at the other Top 5 schools on each of the recruiting services - every one of them has played in either a BCS bowl or the NCG the past 2 seasons. Conversely, we haven't played in a bowl game for THREE consecutive seasons.

Keep doin work, Butch

Considering the world of human gnome mapping is similar to Rivals recruit ranking, apparently some of their 4* are ranked higher than some of our 4* so I voted 6-7.

Regardless, those with heart, determination and discipline will play regardless of *s while those relying on HS accolades only will sit.

From the limited information I have, this appears to be a very good class and one desperately needed.

Offensive and defensive scheming is the great equalizer as it pertains to an opponent's average star ranking by player (IMHO).

I'm not a stargazer, but there is no doubt this is the #1 class this year. Ranking the Top 20 is just for press. Butch is pulling in almost double that with quality top to bottom.

#1 class IMHO.

Actually, there is almost universal doubt.

Quality post from a quality poster.

**I voted 8-9 because of NSD craziness. But given out past few seasons (while these kids have been in HS) I think Butch has done a great job. He will continue to have an uphill battle until we start to prove ourselves on the field, however.

Considering our performance over the last four years on the field, if our Coach can pull out a Top 10 Class, there should be and or shall be much joy in Knoxville come NSD. Anyone agree to that?

Could care less about ESPN's ranking since they are the worst analyst of the big 4. I do care that the class ends up top 5 on Rivals.

I totally agree with that.

So the point being, I can go out there and recruit three 5 star QBs, seven 5 star WRs and three 5 star RBs and probably have the number 1 class. Most of the class rankings don't take into account the types of positions, but the overall rating of the player involved.

So if UT was to make a NSD surprise and pick up even a 2 or 3 star QB, I'd have to say based on balance and combined with the rating the class would easily be top 5 if not top 3.

I'll take this class over anyone's class this year. Something special about the close bond this class has with each other. Brick By Brick
