Butch is pulling in almost 40 new VFLs. All of them with offer lists comprised of the Who's Who of college football. Not the Bamboo Farmer's "Diamonds of the OVC."

Recruiting rankings normalize against the first 20 recruits. Butch is pulling in almost double that. So what if Bama's first 20 is 0.0002 better than ours on Rivals? We have at least 10 more star quality recruits behind that.

That's a #1 class.

I think it's a good class, but short on big, strong linemen on both sides of the ball. Until we get can recruit dominant linemen like LSU and Bama, don't expect more than 8 wins a season. We should have plenty of skill position guys and linebackers, but our D and O line will still be very mediocre.

If we are only winning 8 games in four years Butch will be gone. We win 4-5 games this year. Maybe 6-7 the next. The following year (year 4) will be the decisive season--either we win 7 games or 10+. If he's not winning more than 8 by year five, he's out.

I agree, after three years,,we have problems. My point is, eight wins this year?

247 credits every school's entire class. Bama is still #1 by a comfy margin.

I think it's awesome that we're actually having a conversation like this with a Bama fan.

When was the last time UT was anywhere close to Bama in the recruiting rankings?

Short on line players?
Off the top of my head, at defensive end:
Hendrix, Henderson, and early enrollee mixon.
Defensive tackle : juco Owen Williams, Barnett, big Charles .
Plus we may keep Thomas and possibly add sawyers.
Oline : juco Blair, Coleman Thomas, Raulerson, Orlando brown, jashon Robertson.
looks like a pretty solid haul to me.

They are decent but nowhere near what the big boys like LSU have on their lines. Plus they are 2 and 3 deep. Time will tell.
