That's okay. Seems like cosmic justice since I lied to your mom when I said I'd call her the next day. Yay indeed...

Nah, you must have me mistaken for your brother. Besides, you don't need to call your mother. Just walk to the other side of your trailer.

To be consensus top 5 (including #2 on Scout) with less than a week to go before signing day is a great accomplishment IMO.

If we are consensus top 10 after Feb 5 (AND we manage to hold onto Hendrix), I'll take that all day long and twice on Sunday.

To put it in perspective, look at the other Top 5 schools on each of the recruiting services - every one of them has played in either a BCS bowl or the NCG the past 2 seasons. Conversely, we haven't played in a bowl game for THREE consecutive seasons.

Keep doin work, Butch

Haven't seen this quote from last night?

Hendrix - "There's gonna be no surprises from me on National Signing Day. I'm 100% committed to the University of Tennessee.

Here's hoping you have a good Sunday...twice

Yikes. That was really, really terrible. Surely you noticed how awful this attempt was before hitting "submit". I'm not going to pretend that I was cooking with gas, but you just flung crap all over the place. I'm sure you can do better.

I don't have to do better. You're a bama fan, and on top of that you spend your time on volnation. You already look like an idiot.

I think we finish 6-7 in the rankings.

Unless I am missing something most ranking services only count the top 20something for each class ranking. With that in mind we literally have a class and a half of studs coming in this year. Far and a away a top class for this year.

Butch and company have done a fantastic job, especially considering how lousy our play has been the last few years.

But the fact of the matter is this: Bama may have pulled in one of the greatest classes of all time. They have 5 of the top 16 players committed (247).

I'd put Butch's effort above Saban's just based on how he has managed the cards with which he has been dealt. After a couple of more years of top-10 recruiting classes, I expect we'll be a top 10 team once again and we'll be bringing in top 5 classes on an annual basis as well. I believe this because something tells me that Butch will never get lazy ... it's just not in his DNA.

We have never had this many EE's, sons of legends, high quality kids that want to ball out for our UT. CBJ has put to rest the GPA issues, and proved beyond any doubt that he is a master recruiter. I say this class is a monster #1 in my book.
Looking forward, one thing comes to mind, the effort Pig put forth in the Ga game is the same passion that will help drive these young kids to a frenzy, an Al Wilson type energy that will have the nations eyes focused once again on the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

This should generate a lot of debate

What's the Success Rate for 5-Star Recruits Reaching the NFL? | Bleacher Report

I have highlight 2 exceprts that caught my eye. Read the whole article and gather your own conclusion.

A. The SEC certainly attracts the most 5-star talent. No other conference has even two-thirds of its 60 5-star players recruited between 2002 and 2008. But do they really do the best job developing it?

B. In short, this is what we think we've learned from the data above:

•Two of every five 5-star prospects becomes a long-term NFL player.
•There is a significant difference between 5-stars in the top half of their class and 5-stars in the bottom half.
•Receivers and tight ends are the best bets to pan out; defensive backs and defensive linemen have the most bust potential.
•Programs in the current Pac-12, Big Ten and ACC have done the best job cultivating 5-star talent.

Actually, there is almost universal doubt.

I care even less about what a Bammar thinks of UT's '14 class than I do what ESPN thinks of it.

Buck Fama. And buck ESPN as well.

Here's how I look at it....

Looks like we'll finish 3rd or 4th in the SEC, but 1st or 2nd in the SEC East, which is excellent.

Additionally, the only team that we play regularly that'll more than likely finish ahead of us is Bama.

It's theoretical and just on paper, but it's a very good start.

It appears that 96% of VN think we will have a top 10 class on signing day. A few more years of these top 10 classes and we will be singing Rocky Top in Janurary

Let me qualify my opinion.

I am going to say top 5 - on Scout. Also of note is that Scout recognizes 25 recruits - while I believe most of the other services only recognize the top 20.

We might fall out of the top 5 on Rivals, and 247 but again both of these services are only counting the top 20 recruits.

The strength of the Tennessee class is hidden in the numbers. Look at the 14 or so players in our class that we are not getting any credit for. There are some incredibly talented commits that aren't even being weighed in this class. For example, Cam Sutton if he were in this class would not count.

This is a monster class and if all 34 were included in the ratings it would be either the first or second best class in the country. I really can't ask for anything better out of this staff.

If we are only winning 8 games in four years Butch will be gone. We win 4-5 games this year. Maybe 6-7 the next. The following year (year 4) will be the decisive season--either we win 7 games or 10+. If he's not winning more than 8 by year five, he's out.

We will win 8+ games in 2015. Book it Dano. So let it be written.

There will be no need to wait until year 4.

The ranking doesn't indicate the much needed depth and (potential) star power this class gives us.

Pretty incredible job by Butch and Co.

Some teams may jump us on NSD but im very happy with this recruiting class regardless of where we finish.

Yep and our new coaching staff ought to be good for a couple of more notches...regardless of our final ranking in recruiting i believe our players will be more selfless than some of the more recent classes due to a more focused bunch of coaches on the hill...GBO!
