We would like to see continued progress every year.

A new couch has to have time to get his recruits and implement his game plan.

As long as the fans see progress, I think the University and fans will support him.

Just like any head coach, it is up to him to get the job done.

good luck coach
go VOLS

I think by the end of year 1 we will fully know how he will work out. I'm not saying he has to win 9 games to prove himself no, but it's how they play on the field that will tell me everything.

However, this poll is almost completely pointless as I believe we are stuck with this guy good or bad for the full six years.

4 years max with at least one national title and one sec title required during his 4 year tenture. especially since he and his coaching staff have been together for so long i expect no errors on there part as a collective staff.

"Prove himself" can be a slippery slope. In three years, we need to be able to see significant improvements. That doesn't mean he has to win the conference in three, just that his teams need to get better each year. Dooley's teams got worse throughout each season.
Butch's teams seem to always be at their best at season's end.

I looked at the word improve. Maybe not win championships but my money is on he will but to compete and get better as the year goes on. I cant wait to see passion on that field. :salute:

3 or 4 years to get to 9 wins IMO. There are 6 games each year than any competent coach can win at the University of Tennessee. So you've got 3 years to get to where we really want to be which is consistent 9 wins and that means beating South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, or Bama every now and again. If he can do those things, I'll believe he can get us to 10 & 11 win seasons

I will be impatient from day 1, but between Kiffin and Dooley, 4 tears have been wasted. So I can see giving him 4 years to do it, as long as he at least shows improvement.

This Coach gets 4 , we can NO longer afford to fire coaches and staffs , just to pay their BUY OUTS .

First year is a wash either way- immediate success is good but doesn't prove he's a good coach, failure is expected as there is a steep learning curve with the SEC.

Second year he should be adjusting still but I personally must see progress even if it doesn't translate directly to wins.

Third year is time to nut up or shut up. You've had time to implement your system and get the staff and players.

So for me three years unless Butch manages to make us even less competitive.
