Poll Rankings 4 UT

Not only will Whitelaw Reid have the Vols unranked, I am sure he is trying to pay off the rest of the voters to do the same. Not that it really matters as long as the Vols keep winning.

Watching the replay, I caught this gem from Bilas. "Every mistake Pittsburgh has made, Tennessee has capitalized". This is what we want to hear. Bilas was obviously contrite on Bruce's transgressions, also. He apparently "gets it". We all know it's a seedy business. Cal is the poster child for the SEC. Even the man with the closest proximity to ESPN has been under the cloud of scrutiny. Bruce's mistakes were not Cam-worthy. C'mon.

"The process has to be played out...... It's just wrong...."

i feel pretty confident we get top 5 now. beating those two on the road? itll be hard to not rank us in top 5. may even get a few #1 votes

I think our slate of wins absolutely places us in the top five, but we'll have a hard time wresting any #1 votes from Duke.

I'd say 6th or 7th, but if we keep winning, we will eventually get the respect that's due. And remember, we still have Maymon, Bone, and Woolridge to add to the depth chart. The future looks bright.

Infront of Nova and Pitt for sure. And if we aren't, than ESPN truely hates us. But i'm more worried about the AP than ESPN's crappy rankings.

I'm interested to see what Maymon will bring to the table. Some think he can be a difference maker and some don't. If he can be a difference maker, I think he could propel us from a top 5 team to the best team in the country. We'll see what happens....

What exactly does "ESPN" have to do with how the coaches vote?

Last week's AP:

1. Duke
2. Ohio State
3. Pitt
4. Kansas
5. Kansas State
6. Connecticut
7. Michigan State
8. Syracuse
9. Georgetown
10. Baylor
11. Tennessee

The coaches' poll is similar; Missouri and Villanova both also ahead of us in that one. We'll jump them both IMO.

Baylor still hasn't played anyone, Georgetown lost to Temple, Michigan State now has 3 losses, so we'll likely pass those three.

I think Duke, OSU, Kansas, KSU, UConn, and Syracuse stay in front of us...Duke, OSU, and Kansas by virtue of being still undefeated and long believed to be talented...KSU same, except their one loss is to Duke...UConn by virtue of Kemba Walker and two big surprising upsets...Syracuse by beating Michigan State and already being ahead of us.

Probably we jump Pitt, but it's not guaranteed. My guess is 7th in both polls.

Hopefully, FL can upset Kansas State this week and UCONN has to go to PITT in a couple weeks. We take care of business, then we will be top 5 then. I don't see Duke, OSU, Kansas, Syracuse losing for some time based on their schedule.
