I'll just speak about the positives, as I enjoy listening to the station throughout the day. Of course, not everything is perfect, but there is much more quality than you all give the station credit for. I think people just like to complain, yet haven't considered how difficult a job it is to be a radio host.
First, I really enjoy Eric Ainge as he always brings a unique and inside perspective. Of course he breaks down vols football really well as well. While, I never actually played football, I do know quite a bit from watching it throughout the years. Nonetheless, I am always learning something new and getting a specific take with a Vols twist added. There are things I never would have seen or appreciated about what its like to be a college football player that Eric is always pointing out and reminding the listeners about. Brian, his co-host, brings some good info as well from an administrative perspective. He keeps Ainge in line at times and there are some behind the scenes things I've learned from a behind the scenes angle
Jimmy Hyams has all the contacts and does a great job getting relevant and even exclusive information, particularly at the news and notes portion of the show. People give him a hard time over the Jeff Brohm incident, but I trust his word as it has proven to be true in most cases. If he gets it wrong, something probably broke down last minute, as he verifies his sources. He may not be the brightest personality, but he is very objective and doesn't sugar coat anything, which I appreciate even with my orange colored glasses.
On the other hand I think Josh Ward is a great personality, clever, and overall great orator. He can be professional when he needs to be, but does a nice job with filler material. But at the same time, I think he could do a show on anything. Wouldn't be surprised to see him dip out, if given an opportunity to do national radio on any subject. I can think of many national radio hosts he does a much better job at filler material. He keeps it light at times, sprinkling in different topics, but I'm sure he can stay on subject if given an opportunity to do big time radio.
Also, I think Eric Kaine is a hidden gem. He does really well when he is given an opportunity to fill in. I wouldn't mind him being a full time host.
