I'll go ahead and start my weekly thread now.
Here's how the Vols' "competition" fared:
Ole Miss 1-3 16-7 (They were likely lucky a midweek game at Memphis was cancelled. They did beat Tigers the next night in Oxford
Texas 2-2 19-7 (Beat something called a Central Arkansas midweek but lost 2of 3 at Texas Tech)
Arkansas 2-1 18-4 (No midweek. Went 2-1 at woeful Mizzou 7-5, 5-7, 6-4)
Vanderbilt 2-2 19-4 (Beat Belmont and lost 2/3 at South Carolina 10-0, 2-8, 6-8)
Oregon State 3-1 17-5 (Beat Seattle -not the Mariners, and went 2-1 at Berkeley )
Florida State 3-1 16-7 (Beat UCF, and went 2-1 vs. Duke losing the Sunday game 11-2)
Florida 2-2 17-7 (Came from behind to beat Bethune-Cookman and lost 2 games vs/ LSU the losses were blowouts 16-4 at 11-2)
Oklahoma State 4-0 18-6 (Swept Oral Roberts and vs. Kansas)
Virginia 3-1 22-2 (Beat Towson and went 2 for 3 at Wake losing today's game
I believe Tennessee will be NEAR unanimous #1 but Baseball America -as always, will be the outlier. BA had Tennessee at #7 last week and I just know they will be stupid enough to keep Oregon State and Virginia ahead. Virginia is #7 in ELO and #13 RPI with a very week schedule. Wake was the only team they've played in Q1.
Vols have a 2 game lead in SEC East and 1 game overall over Arkansas.
Vols remain #2 in RPI behind Dallas Baptist and their SOS. That's up 7 spots from Sunday as the Vols overall SOS went up 7 spots today. The Vols remain undefeated at home and on road with only loss at a "neutral" site. They are 10-1 against Q1. (the best record)
In ELO the Vols widened their lead even more today over #2 Vanderbilt.
By the way, Iona remains winless 0-19 after sweep by Rider this weekend as the Gaels are next to last in ELO (#300)- only head of Saint Peters. Despite a win over a ranked UConn team, Rhode Island (3-19) dropped 10 more spots to #184
I bet ESPN/SEC had wished they had waited to make the TV schedule. The hate the little brothers will exhibit next weekend will be profound.
