By the way, any hope of hitting #1 in midweek RPI is doubtful as WCU is #244; placing the Catamounts firmly is Q3. So even with a win; the math likely doesn't work out as DBU plays #33 LaTech in Ruston and then hosts #54 Wofford.

Got to give the Patriots credit. They know how to work an RPI. There are no further Q3 or worse teams left on their schedyule

I have a feeling we'll be #1 in RPI next week even with the bad midweek game lol.

How can Dallas Baptist be #1 with 8 losses? Sounds like there's a serious issue with the computer program

Math.
First of all, I love DBU. They play anyone, anywhere, anytime and that's why they have the number one SOS. In fact, when you look at their schedule, most of these games are on road or neutral site. They did host #10 Maryland last week, They have played 23 games and 16 of those games are from teams in top-75. That's phenomenal. And DBU is not a fly-by-night school. They've been doing this for several years and have quickly moved up into a strong Missouri Valley Conference after only being Div 1 for a short time

So, Kudos to DBU. They deserve #1 in RPI and the ELO and other rankings likely reflect their true level. But I would hate to host a regional and see DBU as the #2 seed and would be completely pissed if the Vols faced the Patriots in June

No. 1 after 24 games. Not bad for a team the experts had pegged at no better than number 9 in the SEC.
Still a lot of Season left.
I need to see how the baseVols respond next weekend in Nashville.
I don’t think we’re anywhere close to the #9 team but things could go south in a hurry in this conference.
GBO!!

I get all that but you gotta beat those teams. If the RPI gives 'em that much credit for merely playing tough teams regardless of whether they win then there's a problem with the algorithm. 4 of those losses were to unranked teams. One was to Oklahoma, a team we smoked. We've played 4 games vs teams that were #1 at the time. Their only top ten game was vs Oklahoma St and they lost

I get that DBA is a baseball school but their resume doesn't scream #1 to me

Vanderbilt would like nothing better than to be the ones that knock us out of the number one spot. But I think Vitello will have Tennessee ready.

Baseball America out.
I think Tennessee will be first unanimous #1 so I will give BA credit.

However, they did manage to rank every ACC team that can hold a baseball bat to make up for it. So I feel dirty
ACC must be blackmailing Baseball America, maybe they have some pictures or something.

It's just the RPI formula. Sure, it has some flaws. But the committee won't seed just based on the RPI. Iona and Rhode Island are hurting us, but I understand why we play those type teams. It would have been nice to schedule a mediocre midmajor as opposed to two bad ones.
