Poor student turnout for student appreciation practice

I'm a very passionate student/fan. Making the practice on Saturday Morning at 10 AM was a horrible idea. 80% of college students are asleep at 10AM on a Saturday, as was I. I would have 100% went if it were at night.

The practice was at 10 AM before they decided to make it a student appreciation day.

This is the weekend of the Tennessee Coaches' Clinic, so to keep up that schedule, they couldn't move it.

Bottom line is, they invited students to an event that was already scheduled at 10, they didn't create an event for students and make a wrong decision on the timing.

Playing that rap will give me an excuse to omit the Orange & White game. It was a stupid show last year. I can't imagine what a hungover student would feel like with that pounding.

Yea, what will they have this year? Miniskirts?! Two piece bathing suits?! And I bet you most of the young men will NOT have a crew cut! What is this world coming to?!? Whatever happened to stick and hoop? Now there was some good clean entertainment, I say!!

Why are all the "student appreciation" events held by UT so lame?

They actually came through a couple of years when I was there with the free concert thing. Cake played and Ben Folds was there another year. Outside of that, I don't remember anything that remotely enticed me to go.

If I wanted to go to a party, I would go to a party. I am a student of the game and that crap is totally distracting. And by the way, we did win championships when I went to UT.

Tell me, was your hair always blue or did you have to dye it that way?

In other, way more productive news, check @ALLVOLNEWS for updates on the scrimmage. It's not me, but whoever it is is apparently there and possibly the first person ever to obtain a cell signal in Neyland Stadium. Of particular note so far: Ferguson & Worley playing well, Sutton returned a punt for a TD, Pearson has been on fire (took the jet sweep for a TD), Josh Smith is making some good catches, and Dobbs has 2 rushing TDs.

Well, this will be a good point forward for next year. If they want to have the same type of event, get it on the calendar before spring practice starts and make it under the lights.

Not to be one-upped by Bruce Pearl, Butch Jones is now busting out the dance moves with students.

so is the Offense good or the defense bad?

whatever. I went to UT in '88. My ass would've just gotten in a few hours before practice and wouldn't drive from Woodmeade at 9 am on Saturday morning. Maybe your college experience was that of a David Lipscomb and in bed by 10. Just the rowdy fans we need.
Weak excuse.

Waking up hungover to go watch my classmates run drills at 3/4 speed isn't exactly my idea of fun. Sleep > everything

Butch should go all saban and revoke their tickets along with scalding them in public. Then he should proceed to rip all the media,, fan base, and assistant coaches.... Hell it works for the Dwarf.

Scalding would leave a mark, not to mention blisters. Any child abuser could tell you it's best not to leave evidence. But, I don't mind if Saban gets caught.

Sorry, 10am might as well be 5am for college students on a saturday. As a recent grad, I still find it hard to wake up early on a Saturday

When I was at UT, I considered my friends and I pretty rowdy/consistent gameday students. You don't really have to try hard to give college kids a reason to drink. However, that's way too early to expect kids to do anything. You also don't have to try hard to give college kids a reason not to do anything early in the morning. "Oh, no, I can't do it because [snooze button].. zzzzzz"

I would have attended the practice if I could. I receive a lot of emails about great events on campus but unfortunately I'm a distance learning grad student. One more semester and an ePortfolio to go!

Yeah it's a shame this whole thing was wasted on the students.... They'll appreciate it in, oh say, 10 years from now...I suspect it's always been that way....
