You're exactly correct. I posted this to make a point in another thread (which I will copy and paste this into at some point). Someone was posting this exact article and saying it somehow illustrates Dems as being lemmings. I couldn't figure it out, but I felt getting the solid argument from a more conservative person would just end the argument.

This study does nothing to address repression. It is not measured in anyway so there is no way to suggest Red state citizens are more represssed than Blue state citizens

There is no data connecting subscriptions to party affiliation at the individual level (the ecological fallacy). There is no controlling for other factors that might impact subscription rates (e.g. other access to porn). As the Newsbusters article points out, there is no control for what constitutes red/blue.

As someone who reviews scientific studies for merit and publication, the conclusions of the author fail.

agreed 100%. However, his little study hit the airwaves in a big way and have had all the impact of a well done study.
