Absolutely shocked that both Jaslove and Kendra are in portal. Expected one of them to win SS job. If our offense is what’s expected, we can afford .250 at SS with the elite defense that Jaslove or Kendra would provide. Don’t get me wrong, I trust that the coaching staff has an answer at SS, but still surprised.

Not. A. Chance. Solid 3B but not a SS IMHO. Expect a JUCO or perhaps late portal transfer. Hate to lose Jaslove and Kendro as both could really pick it.

would be surprised if Amick played SS. Typically corner infielders don’t have SS caliber defensive skills with a few exceptions. SS requires quickness, elite hands, strong arm, and is just so demanding of a defensive position in the SEC. Would have to be a really special freshman to be ready to man SS in the SEC.

With that said, I’d love to have Denton back at 3B. Such a clutch hitter and I wont soon forget incredible play he made in Hattiesburg. Plus he seems like a great teammate and is so humble.

The incoming freshmen are every bit as talented (probably more so) than Kendro or Jaslove. We’ll be fine at SS. Antigua is a bonafide stud.

These last two portal entries appear to me to be victims of the draft. Imo they’d already have been in the portal before this late timing if it was their choice. they were pushed into doing so imo

Yes, SS is wide open next year so clearly TV pushed out the only 2 players on this roster with SS experience and told them to look elsewhere and that they weren’t wanted here anymore as he twirled his mustache and laughed maniacally.

I believe that one of the talented SS’s we are bringing in will win the job, I agree. But I do not agree that TV pushed BOTH Jaslove and Kendro out to leave his roster empty of any SS experience.

I’m mostly just confused because here you are yet again bashing TV for how he handles his roster but I stupidly figured you’d be happy that it’s a high school recruit and not a portal player that is likely to win the job. I was wrong. You’re just looking for more reasons to insult the coaching staff.

Sure develop them too. But you can’t not try to continue to bring in the best players out there. We have not brought in a SS from the portal. Kendro/Jaslove would have been competing against incoming recruits (Amick isn’t playing short, neither is CMo or Zane).

As for Booker, he was given every opportunity this past season. He’s just been passed over and likely saw that (again by current players - Tears, Drieling, Ensley, Chapman).

I concur. There were too many times when we discounted a position by saying we can sacrifice the bat. Then we get an injury plus another position player who slumps, then we have three light hitters in the lineup. Let’s pack the lineup with bats top-to-bottom.
